Great news, the complaints can't have fizzled out enough for it to be quietly dropped. Strange how they haven't made a bigger deal of it yet.

24th November today, just booked some tickets and there is no option.
Also looked for an obscure option to select seats.
The odd thing is it told told me welcome back to first class and gave me the seat I usually sit in!

I’ve found out how to select seats - you need to make an account with the “new website” and on that “new website” you can enter your journey details and it should come up with a new booking system. You can select your seats after selecting trains

Useful to know, when you say "New Website" is this the current Avanti page or a completely different one ?

Just been reading about it.
They are closing the old account on the 7th December.

Tickets booked on our old website are not available in your new account.
So if you purchased your ticket on our old website, before 12 November 2020, we suggest checking your emails to find them or logging into your old account. P.S. remember to use your old password when you login and download any tickets as soon as possible because this account will be closing on 7 December.

Admittedly I've not used it recently but C2C's site was awful when I last used it, riddled with errors and an awful user interface.

Doesn’t make it easy to find Advance tickets, does it!
Not at all - it says at the top “return for £xx.xx” and next to it it says “2 singles for £xx.xx” - it defaults to the former so you have to press the latter to get advances to show up.

Just had a look at the new site, blimey it's slow and it's not exactly easy to find Advance fares. By comparison LNER's site is far better.

not exactly good either if you're required to re-register with Avanti having been in business for less than a year...

You think clicking on that tab and seeing no change to the fares displayed (for a return journey, at least) is a good and sensible user experience, do you? I don’t.

I think it’s really poor.
I wonder if they’ll mass email ’old’ accounts telling them to re-register?
A lot of people won’t bother as they would think it is scam.
It's rubbish. Which to be fair brings it entirely in line with the rest of the TOC :D
I gave them the benefit of the doubt at first, but as the months roll by they just seem to have become worse.

Yeah, I thought there was a lot they could have done with say the Italian aspect of the brand (after all, Le Frecce look really good) but it's just been lackadaisical and can't-be-bothered all the way through. Which is odd, as FirstGroup seem to do OK with "look and feel" these days - the GWR brand is really very powerful, and TPE looks slick, too.

Pretty much my thoughts initially as it didn't recognise my log in details.
From the comments I think more work is needed.

I've just logged in today to look at some tickets, it wouldn't log me as I know what is going on.
There was no link to the old login page or to tell you to create a new account, which is buried away in 'New look, new way to book' section.
Very poor.

Four days on, and when I try to change allocated seats I keep getting "Your old seat is cancelled but we can't reserve your new seat. Please try later"
Not exactly over-impresed.

Has anyone else had an issue, where with a standard advance, it won’t allow them to reserve in to Coach A? It would let me reserve a seat in all other standard coaches except A. Yet when I messaged them on Twitter they could change it to Coach A for me fine. Weirdly, it was only an issue when reserving on to a 9 car pendo, worked fine with an 11 car.

We've had this on the Avanti seat selector Trainsplit thread.
Some sort of glitch with the sounds of things.

Hi all - newbie here. I'm on the new Avanti site but can't find the seat selector - can anyone help?

I've tried on Trainsplit and it's not working for me there, some kind of technical issue.

Welcome to the forums.
It's been discussed earlier in this thread.
Basically you have to re-register on the Avanti website and it will take you to the new booking page.

Happy to look into this if you can provide details.
Thanks Adam, that would be great. The error comes up when I'm trying to confirm the new seats I've chosen, and it says:

Something went wrong
Sorry, we couldn't confirm that change.
