Deliberately excluding services through the Channel Tunnel what’s the longest, by distance, freight train journey in the UK? I’d like a regular (one a fortnight) service or better.

Used to be the Burngullow (Cornwall) to Irvine (Scotland), but not sure it still runs now...

Switched to coming from Antwerpen via the tunnel, so excluded from the OP's criteria.

What about the Felixstowe-Coatbridge liner?

Know bit off what original poster asked, but would a container etc, say, do wick etc to St blazey etc By swapping onto various freight trains? So what’s the furthest journey a single container or wagon makes wholly in the UK?

There was a Dover - Dundee Speedlink back in the day. (maybe a couple of wagons made it end to end as it called at several yards enroute)

Trostre - Tilbury (tinplate) still runs. Is there still a Millbrook (Soton) - Coatbridge ?
