Today I test run some of my late 80s early 90s Lima locomotives around a test loop with radius 3 curves.
Over 3/4s of them derailed when trying to go round the curve due to the drive bogie being very stiff.
What can I do maintenance wise to fix this problem.
The ones that derailed are new un-run (collected a lot of locos in the 90s and never had a place to run them)
Thanks for any advice.

A way I found to (at least partially) alleviate this problem is to put some lubrication oil on the bit of plastic upon which the tab holding the motor bogie in the engine slides, if that makes any sense. With the Lima bogies. I oil the clips that hold the motor bogies in place . Have you checked the b2b as they can be out on new models.

I’d definitely try that first as well. It might be that there’s been a bit of distortion over the years of storage.

I have taken to filling a couple of millimetres off the frames to allow the bogies to move more freely. Some of my collection is worse than others but they all moved freely enough when new.

I found it was my latter Lima purchases from the 1990's. I shaved an extra 1mm off both ends of the chassis, smoothed and it was fine.
