GTR 313 coastway guards

There is a noticeable reduction in useage of class 313s on a Saturday, would I be correct in assuming that the guards that work these trains have booked work on Saturdays as OBS’s?

Guards (Conductors)certainly work 377 services as On Board Supervisor

The 313s will be gone sooner or later and presumably everyone will become an OBS who are actually on more money but Sundays are inside and diagramming at least in the early days was very poor. That said an OBS coordinator (a normal Guard who volunteers ) based at Three Bridges ensures trains are run with them

I don’t believe guards work as OBS or vice versa. Its two separate roles.

but there are short notice swaps for 377s vice 313s. I believe the rostered guard in that situation would work the 377 as booked but obviously wouldn’t do the doors.

Do 377s not have door control panels though, just with door close buttons, drivers release?

They certainly do have door control panels which they can open and close local door or all doors, signal the driver etc

Yes they do, as they were guard dispatched from their inception up until the DOO reforms 5 years ago.

And Southeastern guards used to take over from Southern OBSs on services from Tonbridge - Victoria (when they were still running) often mid-route.

377s are still guard dispatched on the Milton Keynes services. Driver release though
