I received the following email last week from GWR..

We are pleased to invite you to an Initial zoom pre-interview, with the Driver Management Team. When your pre-interview date and time is confirmed, you will be sent a zoom interview invite, nearer to the time of the interview.

Any ideas on what to expect? I would have a good idea if it was either the MMI or DMI so have no idea what to expect or what to prepare!

I’ve heard about GWR conducting these interviews recently. I can only assume it’s due to Covid and they will invite you to a face-face DMI should you perform okay in this interview? Could be wrong and someone else may be better placed to advise.

A colleague of the better half also has one of these interviews coming up, it seems to be a recent additional step and slots in between the initial paper sift and doing the psychometrics. I have no idea however of the interview details.

So this is neither MMI or DMI, does anyone have any idea what part of the process this is as I’ve not heard, read or come across it before.

The invite also states...

You are advised to spend time preparing for this interview as it is crucial to your application being progressed to the next stage of the process.

I had one recently, it's nothing like a DMI that I've done before, You are asked questions about your CV, and a few questions that you should expect to deal with in an interview, I think there were only 1 or 2 job-specific questions asked, it lasted about 30 mins, It is just another stage to work out if you are good enough to deserve a DMI, the 2 people that did mine were very pleasant and made me feel welcome and relaxed. I'd also have to hand a big list of skills/behaviour traits that a train driver should have

Sounds like a new incarnation of the phone interview they used to do between sifting and psychometrics

Hey @snakeydave24 What kind of questions specifically? I know you said 1 - 2 job specific as well.
What and how do they ask ?
