Yesterday morning (probably around 10.30) I was driving along the A23 past Coulsdon South Station and saw an 8 carriage Electrostar in South Eastern livery pass through, heading northbound. It didn't appear to be stopping. Was this on diversion or is it likely that a couple of units have been loaded to Southern?

375818 375822 were the two most likely units at that time of the day. Charing X - Hastings services were diverted by the looks of it, for most of the day.

It is standard practice to run Southeastern services to Tunbridge Wells and Hastings via Redhill when engineering work closes the lines north of Tonbridge - it happens quite a few times a year.

They went via the rarer route of Parks Bridge Junction, New Beckenham and Beckenham Junction the previous Sunday.

I think it breaks down into the following:

Block north of Chislehurst - diversion via New Beckenham

Block between Petts Wood and Sevenoaks - diversion via Bat & Ball

Block between Sevenoaks and Tonbridge - diversion via Redhill

Yesterday appears to have been Orpington / Otford to Tonbridge so the Redhill diversion was used.

Southeastern were running via Redhill due to a block between Orpington and Tonbridge.

2tph were running from Hastins to Charing Cross. The Ramsgate services diverted via Maidstone East instead.

this isn’t very rare anymore, happens a lot (especially over the the past 4-5 years now). Like all this coming weekend!
