Hi guys, just a quick question
What does National Rail Enquiries mean by 'No fares available'? Wanting to catch the first train out of my home station this Saturday but the aforementioned text is where the pricing should be. Yet the next departure has £48.10 Off Peak return. Can i just buy this instead and get on the earlier train?

EDIT: Oh shoot, this was meant to be in Fares advice subforum, if someone could move this would be great. Sorry.

Depending what your home station & journey you are trying to make is, but might be that the train is marked as "Reservations compulsory" and all available seats have already been sold.

Whereas in practise the only TOC which is enforcing compulsory reservations is LNER (and Avanti at Euston/Glasgow)

I can replicate this

It looks like there are no seat reservations available in standard class.

I looked on Trainsplit and it offers a 1st class option.

Welcome to the world of compulsory reservations. In reality there are bound to be socially distanced seats available on the trains and is a demonstrates why we should not have compulsory reservations.

Just nominally select the next available service so you can buy your ticket. In the unlikely event that your intended service is really at capacity then you'll have to take the next one (as booked).
