There must now be a backlog of units waiting to come through the tunnel into the UK.
When was the official expected entry into full service.
I suspect it will be put back a few years now with all that's gone on?
One things for certain,it will be interesting when we start seeing regular new arrivals again.

One good thing is when they do start entering service the fleet replacement should happen fairly quickly. Limiting factor might end up being how quickly training can happen rather than manufacturing and delivery.

For what it's worth, Walton Sidings are on the original alignment of the Grand Junction Railway between Acton Grange and Bank Quay.
The current WCML was diverted to run at a higher level to the west during the construction of the Manchester Ship Canal (which paid for the LNWR diversion).
The Slow/Chester lines still use part of the old alignment over the GJR Twelve Arches Mersey bridge before their own diversion up to the MSC bridge.
The six 777's in Walton Old MSC sidings are only visible from services using the Helsby lines. All parked far end of sidings. The have also installed CCTV. Left hand side heading south. Right hand side heading north.

I took a trip to Kirkdale today, and from the train I could see four class 777s. The only one I could identify was 777008. Can any one tell me what the other three where? Thanks.

Last time I checked the 777s stabled at Kirkdale were 001, 008, 010, 012, 014, 016 and 018.

I know it's not an exact answer, but hopefully it narrows it down for you. :)

The above is a screenshot from this video (not mine).

One thing I've noticed is that the headlights form an "M" shape. Is this a deliberate design decision to represent 'Merseyside' (similarly to how the Azuma name was chosen because they were serving the west of the country, for example)?

Yes. It's been that way since quite early in the process, though I can't remember if it was a request from this end or just something Stadler did for fun.

Are we likely to see any class 777 out on test, before the end of service on the network. Late last summer, they did run once or twice on Sunday and Monday evenings.
Are they into the mileage accumulation stage with testing now?

afaik the M is an intentional design feature that came up during the design stage. It’s a nice coincidence that it also works for the Tyne & Weir Metro.

There is a 777 battery trial happening in Switzerland this week and it will continue over here eventually.

As the train is a Stadler Metro, I wonder if that might become a permanent feature in future.

(Not quite sure why they don't have a "suggestive" name like the others! :D )
How about this as a "suggestive" name for a Stadler Metro: The S & M train?

Amusingly when the yellow livery first started appearing on Merseyrail we (schoolkids at the time) called it the "M train", because of the Merseytravel Ms plastered all over it. Might these get the same nickname, I wonder?

It could be argued it needs to be there for *anywhere* on Merseyside! To continue that thought might lead to a ton of stereotypes, so I'll leave it there...

As opposed to the rest of the UK, where everything is bunnies and kittens.
