Hi All,

I have recently been offered a train conductors job subject to a medical and while I am waiting for my medical I thought it would be good to do some brief home work on the PTS.

I have found a link online with a PTS handbook from 2020 link below and I just wondered if anyone could confirm if this link Is adequate enough to do some home work on or if anyone would just advise to do nothing and await training.

I just want to ensure I’m not doing home work on Incorrect information.

If someone wouldn’t mind having a look at the link and advising it would be very much appreciated and if there are any links that people would advise to look at this would be welcomed :)

Just await the training. There will be no expectation of having done any homework.

I'd only do homework once my course had started.

It is admirable to want to be prepared and ahead of the game, but the way the courses are run is such that you're better off going in with zero knowledge rather than incorrect/incomplete knowledge.

Thanks for the response Choochoochoo :)

As I said to Martin2345uk maybe I’m being over keen.

Just thought it may help me on my training journey.

Thanks again for your response and your honest advice genuinely appreciated.

PTS is one of the easier parts of the course as long as you can remember some distances and terminology in any case - nothing to worry about.

Just food for thought, it’s great looking through some bits but if you misinterpreted something and you had to unlearn it it could bite you in the arse. Especially as you have to do a test and you could really muddy the water. As mentioned it’s pretty straight forward too

As all the above thank you for your response and your advice galahad08 ;)

Hi Daz

The PTS course here, you can learn for free and based upon a train driver's PTS. Might help but is quite involved http://uktrainingsolutions.com

Hi, Pilotman thanks for your response and your time.

Ive since decided to do as others has said and await my training but thank you for taking the time to respond and send something over.

Much appreciated

Nothing wrong with having a look at the PTS as it's not hard to understand, very basic exam. Wmt email the trainees a pdf file pts and get them to read up before starting so I dont see why you cant have a read. The actual rules and regs it's best to wait until the classroom.
