Basically I've been opening old boxes in the loft at my parents house, much of it hadn't seen the light of day for perhaps 30 years. I remembered most of what I'd stored away but came across a few surprises:-

Some ephemera inc a window label for a PAD-PNZ stopping at Keyham and Menheniot. There's also the instructions of how to clean your APTIS and PORTIS ticket machines.

Then came my ballast collection,no I don't know why either but I did do CSE geology at school.

Most of the labels are now illegible but Cricklewood,Cambridge and Wick are clear.

Anybody else with odd boxes of forgotten railway stuff?

I came across a box of tickets I’d collected from all my schoolboy rail journeys. These include season tickets to school in Haywards Heath and Brighton and individual tickets for journeys to see grandparents in Horsham, aunts and uncles in Worthing and chums around mid- Sussex. It was wonderful finding them again recently and they read like a diary of my youth. I never got into collecting and labelling ballast though; that must be a very niche area of collecting!

As about 90% of the labels were unreadable the ballast has now been put on display in my fathers rockery :) .
What a splendid collection of tickets!
