If someone wanted to travel later with a E Ticket on a phone how would that work?

I ask because on the Transpennine Express app, E Ticket QR codes disappear 24 hours after travel. I know that you get the E Ticket emailed to you before, but some apps (I think Northern) require you to activate the ticket before travel.

An e-ticket is a PDF file which has an Aztec code and is not tied to an app.

They are usually sent as email attachments and/or download links available via email and/or your account within the website of the retailer.

They may optionally appear in an app on addition to being available as a PDF.

They may also optionally be printed.

They do not need to be activated and the Aztec code simply needs to be read by any medium; it does not matter whether it's shown on paper, within an app or as a PDF on any device.

An m-ticket is a poor relation which is tied to a specific app and must be activated. I avoid these!

Do you know what you have?

Have you contacted TPE?

Fortunately I don't have one this week, but I was just asking a general question as I thought it might get brought up

I know the Mtickets on XC app use to disappear about 30 minutes after the booked arrival time, even if the service was delayed. Had it happen many times and had to go back to the email to be let out the barriers.

I've only just starting to use etickets (got to embrace technology at some point)... I make a habit of uploading the pdf to a cloud server right away as backup.

I once tried this at Gatwick Aiport but I couldn't access the document from Google Drive.

I had no mobile reception and when using the airport WiFi I seem to recall Google Drive being blocked.

At least I had a print out with me.
