I'll reserve judgement until I've written in one but I find the standard ADL specification seat as fitted to a lot of their stock built vehicles actually more comfortable than the high backs that Lothian have been using. If this is the case with these then they could rapidly go up greatly in my estimations

I've travelled recently on the stock batch (ADL E40D) Newport Bus have with the same seats. My immediate impression was they were more comfortable than the seats on the MCVs and XLBs and streets ahead in build quality than the first production batches of E400mmcs.

In that case we're in for a treat. Is it still tomorrow that they enter service on the 44? I think I might go for a ride if so
It's supposed to be, yes.

I'm led to believe five of 841-850 have been viewed this week by potential buyers. If sold, they will be kept until replacements enter service.

Theres also talk of another five going back to coaches briefly - which suggests to me 841-843 were the ones being viewed for sale as well as a couple others.

But again, just canteen talk.

Out of curiosity, are 841 - 843 loaned to East Coast Buses from Lothian Country or is it a permanent transfer?
(Apologies if already answered)

All of the vehicles in the Lothian fleet (Lothian Buses, Edinburgh Bus Tours, East Coast Buses, Lothian Country and Lothian Motorcoaches) are owned by the same company, in one way or another. Everything leads back to Lothian/TfE - nothing is sold between fleets etc.

Operating licenses on the other hand is a different question. 841-843 display Lothian Country operating licenses. 844-850 display East Coast Buses licenses.

Current policy is that if a vehicle is "loaned" from one brand to another for a week or less, it is allowed a paper notice in the nearside window next to the door stating this. Any longer than a week, the aim is to change the vinyl on the legal lettering.

But strictly speaking, a vehicle being loaned is irrelevant when their all owned by the same establishment. The only relevant information regarding "loans" is the legal lettering - which corresponds to what routes each vehicle can run on.

Make of that what you will.

841-843 will head back to Lothian Country before disposal - East Coast are due new vehicles. There is no need for 841-843 - especially when East Coast is gaining more fleet than its losing.

Ahh right, thank you :).

I'm guessing the East Coast Buses batch are going to be arriving much later now?

Am I correct in thinking they are now 13-14 years old and still EuroIV, so unsuitable for anywhere with a low emission zone (unless upgraded)?

There are images on Flickr of buses 604 and 606 in service on the 44 today already. There may well be more than just 2 but their trackers don't seem to be showing.

That would be correct that they're not tracking. If you go on one and look closely you'll see why.

1135 also showing on lvf.io as being on the 44 today. I assume this is a one off - my understanding was the 44 was currently fully based at Longstone.

I'd like to intercept one of these in the city centre about 1 today, preferably eastbound. Any timings approximately appreciated
Believe 12.30 and 12.42 from Jenners (Stop PL) should be one, after that I reckon it’s 13.30. Would be good if a second person could check too.

Aa with all B9's in the fleet. Only subtle upgrades required, circa £5k to upgrade. The more you upgrade, the cheaper it gets.

Entirely achievable for their new operators who, going by their age will get them cheap and be able to upgrade to an almost go anywhere bus.

About half an hour ago I witnessed 475 on the 44 which is baffling . Also Volvo B9 886 was heading down Lothian Road with not in service on the screen.
Possibly a case of another one bites the dust.

all of 880-891 off the road today so id imagine 886 will be heading for Marine or Seafield

I was thinking about how big the fleet is and thought we have too many buses so the MMC's could replace the blue interior Gemini 2's (just an idea/theory)

170 has also turned up at Longstone now fitted out as a training bus. Guessing recruitment will finally restart soon.

While possible I could see the ECB Gemini2’s going first as I believe they have got much higher mileage due to the type of work they’ve done. Could happen but I don’t think any Gemini2’s will leave just yet - 2022 seems more likely in my view. Remember the 07 and 57 plates have left already so there’s a few there to make up plus the ones still left.

826-925 (minus tours 905-906) is exactly 98, which is the amount of buses believed to be on the way. I’d say that’s more of a coincidence than anything as the I think the last of the B7TL’s departed without any replacements. 907-925 may stay on for a bit longer but I guess we’ll see as time goes on.

What we could be more certain on is some of 301-350 or 1141-1153 moving to another depot. I’ve heard (but could be wrong) that Marine is getting the 2nd lot of these new ones mainly for the 21.

They're replacing B9TL Gemini's.

by next year, all Gemini's will have gone and some of the Gemini2's will be gone with mostly the ex-London examples staying.

Presumably 351-400 will be the surviving native B9TLs?

I won't be able to get on one anytime soon, can you tell us why here? Many Thanks

A video got sent to me of bus 605 smoking at the Engine. Apparently a leak.

Don't really feel comfortable saying other than if you look closely at the cab under the ticket machine you'll notice something missing. You can probably draw a conclusion from that and what it means... sorry for being so cryptic.
