I've had a look and can't see this question being asked before.

Essentially the question is as per the title: which 2-platform station has the highest number of TOCs calling at it (passing through doesn't count)? I can think of several with 4 - but can't think of any higher at the moment.

Brough has four, I believe. Northern, Transpennine, Hull Trains and LNER (at least pre-Covid).

One or two others like Morpeth and Alnmouth may have had four at some stage.

Edited to say higher than 4! Southampton Airport was the one that inspired me travelling through the station this weekend.

Have LNER resumed any Hull services?

Lots of 4 TOC (Scotrail, Caledonian Sleeper, XC, LNER) ones in Scotland!

Manchester Piccadilly 5?
Avanti West Coast
Northern
Transpennine
Transport for Wales
East Midlands Trains

Edit. Does this list apply to Lime St too, plus Merseyrail making 6?

Ah yes, well remembered (was served southbound only on the first and last ex Edinburgh)
I think Morpeth has 5.

Northern, LNER, Cross Country, TPE and First East Coast Trains
Good call! Mind you First East Coast have not started yet so you can have that from October!

Durham is also 4 (LNER, XC, TPE, Northern), although it’s Northern service is very limited.

So eating my humble pie, in my neck of the woods (Bristol) Temple Meads only has 3, GWR, XC and SWR.

Cheltenham (defo a 2 platform station!) used to have 4 until London Midland pulled out. Now only GWR, XC and TfW.

You have made me chuckle on this very wet day :D After correcting yourself about Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street not having 2 platforms, your next suggestion is 'Bristol Temple Meads'

Well there's no platform 14 at Bristol Temple Meads and platform 2 doesn't normally do any passenger workings, so it won't be too long before it's down to just the two operational platforms.

For perspective!

Shame LM pulled out of Cheltenham as Ashchurch lost a number of services and Bristol - Worcester trains/connections got worse.

Before Wales & West's demise, quite a few stations around here had GWR and Wales & West, and Bath still has XC and SWR, in addition to GWR.

Piccadilly too, under Grayling's digital railway? ;)

If you go back far enough (2005 ish) Worcester FS and both Malvern stations would see 4 TOC's per day... Central, First Great Western, Thames Trains/FGW Link and Wessex.

I think Kirkcaldy, Leuchars, Arbroath, Montrose and Stonehaven are more Scottish examples with four

Pre-covid on the Edinburgh to Liverpool I'm sure they did

There was a departure around 10:20 from Edinburgh to Newcastle last August which called at Dunbar weekdays to get it out of the way as the 10;30 London train looped it

Saturdays it got looped in the loop after Prestonpans.
