A friend of mine is on a mini tour of the North East and reports seeing a disused Class 325 in Tyne yard but couldn't see the number. Anyone know which one it is?

A 325 is often stabled in Tyne Yard during the day and then works from Low Fell RMT to Willesden PRDC overnight. This is probably what was seen although I can't help with the number.

They're all in service aren't they apart from one that was scrapped some years ago? They usually stable one in Tyne Yard during the day so I would assume that this is what your friend saw rather than one being stored disused. Apologies but I cannot help with the number in any case.

Here’s the RTT details for info:

runs throughout the timetable period, 5 days per week.

Does a unit not count as ”disused” when it’s not in use? ;)

Haha... Define not in use then. Is the Pendolino sat at a platform at Euston undergoing preparation technically disused? lol

Thanks to everyone for their postings. We may not have discovered the number of the unit in question but both my friend and I have learned much about the workings.

I think the Low Fell to Willesden was unfortunately involved in striking a person on the line the other day and had to return back to Low Fell/Tyne Yard - perhaps that unit was what was seen?
