Anyone on here who works for LNER know when compulsory wearing of masks might be ended. Cannot see anything on the Gov site about trimescales

We will not know what the situation regarding mandatory facecoverings on public transport will be until the government decides what restrictions will be lifted on 21st June.

When it ends on LNER will be whenever it's lifted on public transport or trains in particular in this country. No one knows for sure when this will be yet. It may be 21st June, or it maybe sometime after that. Word is(though by no means is this definite) that face masks being compulsory in shops and other settings is due to be scrapped on 21st June, though face masks on public transport will still continue beyond that, and for how much longer no one knows yet.

Hopefully hopefully sometime next week Johnson will let us know about his. He was due to let us know this week, but this has been delayed for at least another week!

I wonder whether LNER will try and enforce compulsory face coverings for employees even after they are no longer mandatory for passengers.

No doubt there are a few mask zealots at LNER who will try and do this.

They can’t do that as the law on face coverings is not covered by the by-laws

The poster above , actually said that they wonder if they will still make employees wear them , when customers no longer have to and that's what you replied to.

Apologies, yes you are correct.

Employees could also be exempt though.

Personally on public transport I am not expecting face coverings to end until next Spring. I suspect it will be one of the last restrictions to go.

I would suspect that compliance and enforcement will end long before next Spring, especially if cases remain low over the winter.

Why an earth should face coverings on public transport remain all the way until next Spring? This would be absolute madness! By October most adults would have received both doses of the vaccine. Anyone who catches Coronavirus, it will be just like getting a mild dose of the flu. Hospitalizations and deaths are low enough as it is now, but they'll be even lower still by October. So what an earth would be the point of having to still keep wearing these silly things on our faces on public transport for about another 10 months?

As I have said before I expect a drop in compliance come June 21st……
