Hi, apologies if this is the wrong forum to post.

I have an interview coming up with Northern for a customer service apprenticeship. I'm not too worried about the interview itself however I am a little worried about my college reference in regards to attendance.

I missed a lot of days at the start of the year for a college course I am doing but since then I have been attending most of my lessons. I still did the work and am on tracl for my target grade.

My work reference is in customer service and is near enough spotless in regards to punctuality and I haven't ever been written up.

Am I just being paranoid about my reference or will it be fine.

Thanks

Of course. I applied for Blackpool North, Attending at Preston. By Final 3 I mean, There are only 3 people being interviewed at Preston for that role, The other person I know too. Maybe you're that 3rd person. Who knows!

There could, of course, be interviews other days for the same role. But from what ive gathered - and the numbers of folks on the Online Test - it seems about right.

Ah I see. I applied for Leeds so fortunately I wouldn't be taking your spot.

I presume you know there are only 3 people by the amount of interview slots available, because if that's the case then there are about 7 people for the Leeds one.

Do you feel confident about the interview?

Yeh, Only 3 slots. Leeds has interviews for Administration and customer service, **maybe** theyre on the same day so your odds may be higher.

Im not unconfident but I am anxious. It'd be a great opportunity for me + my aspirations but still, its a difficult industry to get into. Im just trying to research etc etc. Also, The email states it is competency based, So google that and see which questions pop up commonly and prepare answers.

Best of luck to you, Im hoping for ya!

Ah yeah I hope so since they have had a lot of jobs listed in the past few months.

I can think of loads of examples for the sorts of questions they have but just putting them into words there and then might be a problem.

Also, not sure if you've seen but there is a pdf document by Northern that I found on google about the competency based interview with them. I can send you the link if you want.

Best of luck to you too

It would be best to google employment law and references.

from what I understand, no one can give you a bad reference. But can if wanted only give the bare minimum information on you. Such as when you started, when the role ended.

Most companies will ask for an employment reference. But if you don’t have that, then academic or character references.

You’re better off speaking to the hr team of the company you’re considering too.

References only need to be fair and accurate. There’s nothing that states it can’t be a bad one.
They can certainly comment on attendance.
