GTR Trainee Drivers

Hi,

Towards the end of last year, think just before Christmas, GTR recruited for trainee drivers at Selhurst, Brighton, and Horsham. I cant find the thread with the exact depots so that might not be 100% correct but was just wondering, being that its been nearly 7 months now, if anyone has managed to start a driving course with GTR? I am a post qualified driver just wanting know some info on some Brighton or Eastbourne Southern Depots.

I know someone who passed everything almost 2 years ago now and he's still waiting for a course date, he'll be based at Brighton. The people successful from the most recent recruitment drive still have a long wait on their hands.

Wow. Fingers crossed for your mate. Defo don't lose all hope. Its a long old process anyways pre covid, so now with covid its probably taking even longer. I know at my TOC they have had to cut the groups down to about 4 people max, where as before you would have at least 7/8 in a group. Hopefully you get a call up soon.

Im from London, but moving down to East Sussex at the end of July, and I'm trying to find anyone who works out of Eastbourne or Brighton Depot, just to find out how often they recruit for drivers etc. But it seems no one on here is at them depots. Which makes me think, are they small? Already at full capacity lol

Eastbourne is dead man shoes and you transfer there internally only from Brighton etc

GTR last recruited qualifieds in 2019. Gatwick Express used to be the way in for external Qualifieds as you can then move internally to southern depots

You may be mistaking the two different routes that recruitment take

You either are lucky and get a course fairly quickly, or you will enter a talent pool hold which is where it can take many years to exit

I applied for the Dec 20 recruitment and I got a course set for August!

I’m hoping for a job based in Gillingham as a qualified driver! Much closer to where I live!
