Branson, Bezos and (to a lesser extent) Musk are all vying to offer space tourism (ie to edge of space and a few minutes of weightlessness). Whilst the number of rockets initially will be inconsequential, its worth remembering that there were few motor cars when they were initially created. Space tourism is essentially a fancy holiday for those with enough money to brag about their experience. I think that non-scientific spaceflight should be banned as once enough people do it, it will potentially make climate change worse simply to satisfy egos. I wonder if tricky dicky has an anytime first class return ticket or an off-peak single?

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.
Question is do you think Branson's trip even counts as space? Fifty five miles up, seven below miles the Kármán line which is internationally acknowledged as the boundary of space. Bezos, Funk and crew should manage it in New Shepherd which it's designed to do.

I do think it's a ludicrous thing to be doing in this day and age when we claim to be trying to fight climate change

How long before one of Sir Beardy's space flights on a Sunday afternoon is switched at short notice for an RRB (= Rocket Replacement Bus")? ;)
