Was surprised to see this Central Trains notice on London Northwestern this morning. How many years is it since Central Trains ended now?

That will be the document template number, seems they haven’t been updated yet… might get round to it one day

Just old stock, we had loads of them at our place until fairly recently.

My personal ones are British Railways ones

Thanks for your replies. Never realised there could be old stock of documents laying around or a template that's not been updated after all those years.

Get enough complaints about the cost of rebranding when franchises change hands! Why chuck away perfectly good stuff.

In the 1980s I was still using an office clipboard with LMS stamped on it.

To be honest, it's not as if the average passenger will be skeptical of "Central Trains" being written on the top.

I think it is both unprofessional and ironic that a scrap piece paper is used as an apologetic notice for a toilet breakdown.

Old stock? It's just a piece of paper printed off. The company would definitely have "stock" out of service signs you could print in seconds - if people cared to look.

No it isn't, it has adhesive strips on it. It's a BR design that was rebranded by the Central Trains TOU without even bothering to alter the font in the 90s. It was a piece of ordered in stationery, hence the cat number. They got issued out in handfuls and they don't get used very often so it's not unusual to see old items still about. I was issued with a load of Central Trains branded items in 2013, they ran out shortly afterwards.

I have a similarly amended pink Central Trains TOU guards journal from the same era.

Nowadays they are just printed off sheets but the item in the picture was ordered in from the catalog and arrived in a cardboard bound book of however many that you pulled out.

Fair enough - looks pretty tacky though for something that is company issued though!

Probably not been stored very carefully, mine have been stuffed in my work bag for many years

Attached is a photo of the original BR issue version of a "Not available for public use" label, still in daily use in my bag - I only use a few a year at most.

They're actually misused on toilets - the spec for this one was when carriage doors had been locked out of use for operational reasons but were not defective, to advise people not to try and use that door to board.
