Hi everyone. I need to travel 1 day a week to Coventry from Stockport. At the moment I am doing split tickets which works out around £45. As I will be doing this journey every week i was wondering if there is anyway to bulk buy or order in advance to get it as cheap as humanly possible. Thanks so much in advance

You could try booking to Nuneaton on London Midland (maybe splitting at crewe) and get the local train from there

What times do you travel? Do you have a Railcard (or are you eligible for one - note, there's now a wider range of Railcards than in the past)?

Are you prepared to take a slower route (involving changes) if it's cheaper? Are you happy committing yourself with Advance tickets?

Taking this comment as asking if you can avoid booking each journey individually, the answer is no. You can buy multiple journeys in a single transaction but you will still need to search each journey and ticket individually and add them to the basket.

Hi and sorry for not including in the OP . I need to arrive in Coventry around 8:30 am and depart around 4:30pm I wouldnt mind a tiny bit slower and x 1 change or so if it was a lot cheaper. As far as i know Im not eligible for a railcard

If you want to take the direct train each way, I don't think there's anything much cheaper than £45, splitting at Stafford.

With your outward journey being early in the morning, there's no realistic itinerary that, for example, takes you along the cheaper Trent Valley route changing at Crewe and Nuneaton.

You could save just over £10 by taking the Northern stopper between Stockport and Stoke - their Advance tickets are very cheap on that service. You'd then buy Stockport-Stoke (Advance, from £3.20), Stoke-Stafford (£7.70), Stafford-Coventry (£19.80), and another Stoke-Stockport Advance on the way back. Total from £33.90 (may be more if you can't get Advances at the cheaper tiers).

However, that would extend your journey time by quite a bit, especially on the way to Coventry, as the stopper is obviously slower than the express, and there's a wait of about 30 mins in the southbound direction for the express you'd have otherwise caught from Stockport (it's 'only' about 15 minutes in the northbound direction).

There is a nNetwork One Day ticket (£9.00) which is valid all day between Wolverhampton and Coventry (the peak version of the WM Daytripper). This would only save you 50p with a Stafford Wolverhampton Anytime Day Return, but is also valid on buses so may be worth it if you have to catch a bus in Coventry.

The nNetwork ticket can only be brought in the West Midlands so would need to be brought on a previous trip or you would have to break your journey at Wolverhampton.
