What is the earliest last weekday train on a regular route?

Need to exclude parliamentary type services but surely 1617 from Llandudno to Blaenau Ffestiniog must be one of the earliest in the country. The next/last train is normally around 3 hours later but hasn‘t operated since the covid outbreak. Bizarrely the last train on a Sunday evening is 1859.

No sign of the evening train being reinstated next month, I wonder if it will return in December or possibly next May?

Just for info, I was walking alongside the Conwy river this afternoon and the 1617 Ex Llandudno had a standing load on a 2 car Class 150!

For a line with a 'regular' all day service you've got Kirkby to Wigan, the last train is 1945. This dates back many years when traincrew refused to work down the line in the evening because of the amount of bricks and other objects being thrown at trains.

That is about an hour later than it was for many years.

It beats the last train from mallaig by one minute (dep 16.01)!
Although Mallaig has the 18.15 as far as Fort William, which in normal times allows you to connect with the seated portion of the sleeper for stations further south.

Last Southbound train from Glasgow Central which continues along WCML beyond Carlisle on Saturdays is surprisingly early at 1840 (Avanti).

(The last TPE equivalent on Saturdays is at 1709).

Polesworth. The last train (and first) is a Northampton to Crewe at 0650 unless it is a Parliamentary Train. If so, delete

How about the 0002 Dunblane-Euston?
If we’re going by last train on a route and not the last train at a station, then how about the 00:01 Hounslow - Woking?

EDIT: Or to avoid debate about the definition of the last train, how about the 00:01 Smethwick Rolfe Street - Wolverhampton?

But there are later trains from Smethwick Rolfe Street to Wolverhampton about every 30 minutes from 0612 to 2314.

The 0002 Dunblane-Euston is the only one of the day.

Or are we talking about the 'railway day' 0430-0429?

I was referring to the earliest train by calendar day (0000-2359), but the last train by railway day (0430-0429).

It turns out the earliest last train depends on what you count as earliest and last.

Annoyingly, the 23:59 Kirkcaldy - London Euston is scheduled to depart at 00:01 in the working timetable, but not in the public-facing timetable. (Which would probably make it the latest last train, if you’re going by the calendar day.)
