Hello All,

I'm planning a day out in London this Sunday (29/08) and am keen to catch a non-refitted Class 455 for a short ride, just back and forth between central London and one of the suburbs. I was therefore wondering how many services do these sets operate on Sundays and whether I can just go to Victoria/London Bridge and wait for one of them to show up or if I have to plan ahead and look for specific departures. I saw a couple of them in West Croydon last Sunday, but couldn't really tell how frequently they operate. Cheers!

London Bridge is a good bet for Class 455 action however I would check Real Train Times first as there are engineering works this weekend.

They're pretty frequent on either side. They definitely do a lot of West Croydon & Epsom Downs work from Victoria, but they can appear on any metro working. From London Bridge they are the primary traction on the 2Js Caterham and 2Ts Coulsdon Town stoppers.

On Sunday 29/08, the 2Jxx London Bridge to East Croydon services are diverting via Crystal Palace and Norwood Junction from Tulse Hill as there is a SL block between Balham and Windmill Bridge Junction.

There are pretty much always formed of class 455's, so they would be good services to go on, plus you get run on a diversionary route for the 2Jxx, which is cool as well.

They also work services to Beckenham Junction as primary traction however there was one diagram that was Class 377 operated.

Thank you all for the info and the heads-up about upcoming engineering work! I managed to move my trip to Monday and I have come up with a rough itinerary based on your replies, so I'll surely be able to catch at least one service operated by them.

Just to add to this, are there still Sunday 455 services to Dorking?
