Am I too late to join in?? Well, here goes anyway :D

Manchester Central
Chester Northgate
Manchester Exchange
Liverpool Exchange
Liverpool Central High Level
Gatacre
Sheffield Victoria (which started all this!!)
Caernavon (that's what it was called when it was closed)
Blaenau Ffestiniog (old LNWR station)
Oswestry
Park Hall Halt
Llanymynech (last three going back to my infancy!!)
London Broad Street
Dover Docks (??)
Wolverhampton Low Level

These are all stations I have set foot on whilst open. That's all I can remember for now..... I must have passed through many more now closed.

Perhaps we should start another thread on closed lines we've done? (or is that already a thread??)

New Holland Pier and Hull Corporation Pier (+ PS Tattershall Castle, PS Wingfield Castle & PS Lincoln Castle)....
A regular highlight of summer holidays in the 50s/60s was going across the Humber on these - is it Tattershall on the Thames in London? And looking down through the platform on NH Pier to see the sea through the holes.

This list goes back a number of years now, but I remember travelling between Yarmouth (Southtown) to London (Liverpool Street) via Lowestoft and passing through Gorleston North, Gorleston-on-Sea, Gorleston Links Halt, Hopton-on-Sea, Corton and Lowestoft (North). Then it was onto the East Suffolk line which is still open and can't qualify for this thread.
Another recollection is being on a train between Glasgow and Edinburgh which was diverted onto the former NB route now re-opened as the Airdrie - Bathgate. The whole route had been closed to passengers but was still open for freight. Those closed stations were Clarkston, Plains, Caldercruix (R), Westcraigs, Armadale (R), Bathgate (Upper), Uphall (R), Drumshoreland and Ratho. (R) have been reopened eithr 1986 or this year.

Stations I have used before are Kings Cross Thameslink, Waterloo International and last but not least North Woolwich, combining that with a trip to the museum in its final days. I'll never forget staring through my 5 year old eyes at the rusty hulk of 35010 Blue Star on a grassy bank in East London. Seems weird thinking that. One place i regret not visiting, is Shoreditch on the East London Line. I used to find it fascinating, and still do, especially when pulling out of Liverpool Street on a 315 and looking under the bridge to see a Metropolitan/East London Line A Stock train standing on its own in the middle of a cutting absolutely deserted in the middle of London. I saw the remnants of it today and thought that it was such a world away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the Underground system. I'm thinking of doing a visit to the road that its on to look at the old station buildings and whatnot, anybody know if its still accessible? I've been thinking the cutting with a restored station would make a good little place for a Museum of the old East London Line, perhaps with an A Stock trainset in the platform with information and pictures inside it. Shame the cuttings been filled with rubble. :| :(

Just remembered another one: Lossiemouth - on a troop train.

We took our Vulcans up to RNAS Lossiemouth for a fortnight's detachment.

Those were the days.

South Bank is still open I've been on a service train that's called there (to some surprise on my part seeing as I hadn't planned on it!), but it only gets a few services each way per day.

That would have been a Sunday diversion during the early 1970's while the line via Falkirk High was being modernised :D

Anyway, lots, but how about:

Glasgow St Enoch
Glasgow Buchanan Street
Balloch Central
Whistlefield

Sheff Vic, Nottm Vic, Arkwright Street and intermediate stations to Leics central, although I can barely remember the latter. Bakewell, Newhaven Marine, Broad Street, Bedford St Johns, probably a few more if I have a think. Lincoln St Marks, Mablethorpe.

I never thought I'd read a Manics lyric on here! Less still from the days when the Manics really were the Manics

Bedford St Johns still exists - it's on the branch line towards Bletchley :)

Considering a move to Memphis
Oops. Looking at my copy of 'Lost Lines LMR' it appeared to be closed for business.

Bedford St Johns still exists but has moved (c1990). The original station was further to the east. Where the line now curves around, it used to carry straight on, and St Johns stations was where it crossed the A600.

PS have been to old St Johns station but not to or through the new one !
