A regular highlight of summer holidays in the 50s/60s was going across the Humber on these - is it Tattershall on the Thames in London? And looking down through the platform on NH Pier to see the sea through the holes.

yes, Tattershall Castle is on the Thames, Wingfield Castle is back where she was built, Hartlepool and sadly Lincoln Castle has recently been scrapped in Grimsby Docks

This list goes back a number of years now, but I remember travelling between Yarmouth (Southtown) to London (Liverpool Street) via Lowestoft and passing through Gorleston North, Gorleston-on-Sea, Gorleston Links Halt, Hopton-on-Sea, Corton and Lowestoft (North). Then it was onto the East Suffolk line which is still open and can't qualify for this thread.
Another recollection is being on a train between Glasgow and Edinburgh which was diverted onto the former NB route now re-opened as the Airdrie - Bathgate. The whole route had been closed to passengers but was still open for freight. Those closed stations were Clarkston, Plains, Caldercruix (R), Westcraigs, Armadale (R), Bathgate (Upper), Uphall (R), Drumshoreland and Ratho. (R) have been reopened eithr 1986 or this year.

Stations I have used before are Kings Cross Thameslink, Waterloo International and last but not least North Woolwich, combining that with a trip to the museum in its final days. I'll never forget staring through my 5 year old eyes at the rusty hulk of 35010 Blue Star on a grassy bank in East London. Seems weird thinking that. One place i regret not visiting, is Shoreditch on the East London Line. I used to find it fascinating, and still do, especially when pulling out of Liverpool Street on a 315 and looking under the bridge to see a Metropolitan/East London Line A Stock train standing on its own in the middle of a cutting absolutely deserted in the middle of London. I saw the remnants of it today and thought that it was such a world away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the Underground system. I'm thinking of doing a visit to the road that its on to look at the old station buildings and whatnot, anybody know if its still accessible? I've been thinking the cutting with a restored station would make a good little place for a Museum of the old East London Line, perhaps with an A Stock trainset in the platform with information and pictures inside it. Shame the cuttings been filled with rubble.

South Bank is still open I've been on a service train that's called there (to some surprise on my part seeing as I hadn't planned on it!), but it only gets a few services each way per day.

The original Morecambe station March 1991 with huge MR box still in use. Aldwych 1989 0n LUL open day demonstrating new stock, can't recall what stock this was.

That would have been a Sunday diversion during the early 1970's while the line via Falkirk High was being modernised

Bedford St Johns still exists but has moved (c1990). The original station was further to the east. Where the line now curves around, it used to carry straight on, and St Johns stations was where it crossed the A600.

PS have been to old St Johns station but not to or through the new one !
