How many Valentas have the 125 Group saved/preserved?
Enough
It's in to double figures and they have have salvaged others for useful parts too.

Would i be right in thinking the 125 group are wanting to stick with the stereotype?!
Preserved trains are often seen as not as reliable. The 125 group are going to make sure that isnt just a stereotype, but a reality!!!
They may be good engines, but were getting hellishly unreliable and uneconomical towards the end.

They were also being worked daily on hard service runs, finding themselves more and more essentially non-standard within fleets. A number of Valentas in preservation will probably find themselves with a bit more TLC in maintenance, and with more downtime to be tinkered with. I doubt preserved HST's will suddenly find themselves doing a thousand plus miles a day topping out at 125mph.
Aren't preserved/ private diesels limited to a certain speed anyway?
(Merry Christmas everybody )

Crikey, a tongue in cheek comment, and all hell breaks loose!!
Just winding the crank a bit more, pulling you all in!! Oh that was so so funny!
In response to a couple of points though. Ive changed my tune? How? When did i say that i didnt like MTUs? Ive never denied MTUs have given HSTs a new lease of life.
I also realise maintenance would have had a big part to play in the unreliability of the Valentas.
As for quoting EMTs current fleet. Thats a poor argument. I never mentioned VP185s. I mentioned Valentas.
And me being wrong? Nope, i wasnt. I may have said it tongue in cheek, but i wasnt wrong. They were getting unreliable (It may have been down to bad maintenance, but the quote "They were getting unreliable towards the end" is definately right. I never said the unreliability couldnt be rectified) and as for being very thirsty girls. Thats definitely not wrong.
Anyway, i'll keep reeling you lot in. Like a load of fish swimming straight for the bait.
Merry Christmas!
