Hi all,

I have applied for a role in Network Rail in the Engineering department. I have successfully passed the interview stage and have been called back to attend the assessment centre. I have never had to attend one before so i am slightly nervous and also curious. How should I prepare? What do I need to do at them. All advice greatly appreciated.

Is it unusual to be called for the interview first and then the assessment?

From my experience of Network Rail it always depends on the job you apply for. One management job was assessment then interview a week later, another was both the assessment and interview on the same day.

For an engineering role, I suspect they will use a contractor to assess you and they will have to pay for it, much the same as traincrew recruitment for TOCs, so I expect the interview first is to root out those not suitable and avoid paying out for wasted assessments.

Cheers 185,

As an engineer with experience how should I prepare for the assessment. I have not done one before so don't know what to expect.

I am excited but a little nervous.
