I got 377133 this morning and I was surprised to see that it was 2+2 green seats throughout. I thought all the green seated trains were 2+3 in the middle two coaches. Has this train been refurbished recently?

Yes, Southern are gradually refurbishing/refreshing the original "Connex" Spec 377 units.

I knew they were being refurbished but I didn't know they were changing the seating layout, interesting. It's doubtless to do with the "unification" of the 4 coach, DC only 377 fleet.

They aren't changing the layout are they? The first batch of /1s had connex 2+2 seating?

Has it simply been refurbished into Southern coloured seating?

People hated (for good reasons) Connex but they did spec the train interiors better than Southern.

I know there are reasons for 3+2 seating although I don't agree with it but the sandpaper fabric on the seats is a joke.

Now there's something i have to agree with! Whilst the connex spec ones are looking rather tired now, id still prefer the connex moquete over the Southern Astroturf / Course Sandpaper effect!

As Class377man said 377 133 is a 3+2 unit (377 120 to 139) - so if it is now a 2+2 throughout unit like 377 101 - 119 then Southern have indeed changed the seat layout.

Why and will all the 3+2's (120 to 139) be changed - have the seats been taken from 377/3's so the 377/3 now has 3+2 throughout which I remember being proposed some time back to happen before they became suburban units.

As far as i know, seat layouts arent being changed, only the seat covers, handrails and carpets are being changed/added

It was my understanding too but 377 133 is in the batch of units that are 3+2 throughout and the OP said that it is now 2+2. That would suggest the seats have been changed unless 133 was an odd unit before (i.e. 2+2 throughout but out of sequence)

Hence my question
