I seem to remember a couple of years ago that the fare from St Albans City to any London overground terminal was the same (as long as you stuck to overground). It meant you could travel to Charing Cross by changing at London Bridge and the fare would be no more than travelling to St Pancras.

I can't seem to find this fare any more, either on the ticket machines or on Trainline. Off Peak return to St Pancras 10.50, off peak return to Charing Cross !5.50. Have they done away with the London Terminals group as a destination?

Tickets to London Terminals are not valid at or through Farringdon, but St Albans tickets should be to "London Thameslink" which covers you as far as Blackfriars/London Bridge/E&C on the cross-London Thameslink route. I don't know about Charing Cross, that may require a ticket to zone 1 rather than London Thameslink.

You have to buy the ticket to London Thameslink, or Zone U1256 Londn if you want to go to another Underground station.

Just use the London Thameslink ticket to London Bridge, then switch to an Oyster card London Bridge to Charing X, then just £1.50 each way off-peak or £2 at peak.
