Hi guys

I just want to check that my reasoning is sound for this
I'm (hopefully) going from Heald Green to Crewe this morning, planning on taking the 8:02 service. I want to make sure that a Warrington to Crewe anytime return is valid for this service, if I was to claim to be breaking at HDG. Im doing a same day return for it
If I'm understanding it right, it is valid using routing guide map CG, taking route Warrington-Wigan-Bolton-Manchester-Wilmslow-Crewe.

(This is part of a pretty desperate plan to make the WMDR meet cost within a £30 budget, if anyones wondering why I'm bothering. It is my last hope for coming to it.)

Also, if anyone can suggest anything better, I'd love to hear it.
Thanks
Dan :)

I don't think it is valid. National Rail says you need more than one ticket if going this route on a Warrington to Crewe ticket.

How do you get £30?

Warrington to Crewe is £15.00
I assume WMDR is West Midland Day Ranger which is £20.00

Total: £35.00

Heald Green to Crewe is only £11.30 ??

The usual route is via Liverpool South Parkway from [STN]WAC[/STN] or direct from [STN]WBQ[/STN]. The thing about Warrington is it offers many good connections from many places but none of them are valid.

While the routeing guide does say that it is valid, like you say, this is an obviously unintended consequence of having a loop in the map.
You could try it, but I would expect trouble.

However, as raildude said, it's more expensive than from Heald Green (and a route Direct ticket obviously wouldn't be valid), so I don't understand why.

I don't think the route is "reasonable". Some bizarre combinations exist sending people hundreds of miles out of their way on a technicality, but any reasonable person would know that they are stretching the rules to the extreme.
