Passing on the train to Manchester from Manchester Airport, I noticed that there are some all-red Stagecoach double decker buses parked in the hard standing at the back of the depot....what are these?

It's likely that they are cascaded buses from London.

Since re-acquiring it's London business, Stagecoach has been offering it's companies the opportunity to acquired cascaded vehicles from London. For example, there are currently several in the works at Lincoln which are being converted to open top for Stagecoach's Cambridgeshire operation.

There's 11 ex-London Tridents in Manchester, being converted for Magic Bus services, but they will be working normal services until end of summer 2012.

In addition, several ex London vehicles for Fife ended up first at Manchester. However, the single door conversion work was actually done by stagecoach Western Scottish!

Manchester single doored a significant number of those for Fife. Western also did a few, Manchester was simply the stop over point in that case.
