A few questions to see how well people know the East Coast Mainline and associated routes...

1) First tunnel from York in the Up direction

2) BOTH stations where the Hertford Loop joins/leaves the mainline.

3) At which side of the ECML (up or down) will you find...
i) Bounds Green T&RSMD
ii) Heaton T&RSMD
iii) Doncaster RMT

4) TWO Manually controlled level crossings from Eaglescliffe South Jn to Northallerton High Jn

5) Alternative name for Welwyn Viaduct

6) ALL junctions between Doncaster and York

7) All stations from Sunderland to York

8) Number of sidings at York Holgate (Excl Loop)

9) Stations SOUTH of the border where East Coast crews dispatch themselves

10) Speed limit for Up trains from Up Fast to Up Slow at Northallerton

10) 70mph. (And at times has been absolutely frightening to watch some freight move over)

Horrendous, worked on the ECML between Aberdeen and Newcastle, what happened to north of Newcastle?

Bounds Green Up (east)
Heaton Up (east)
Doncaster, taking a guess but also Up as it is the only other route I have seen

11)
Name the station where a Class 91 loco will not be on the platform, during a normal scheduled station stop?

Alexandra Palace and Stevenage although to be pedant, it's actually Langley Junction at the north end which doesn't have a station.

I reckon it's Alnmouth for Alnwick as there's one or two East Coast's which do stop there.

I'm sticking with Morpeth, definetely northbound anyway, simply because the "MkIV Stop Here" sign is beyond the platform, roughly 23-25m or so.

I've never been unlucky enough to be on a East Coast stopping there :p hence why I've never noticed the sign you mention but with the speed restriction there, how much time would be lost by adding a stop there?

Not sure how much of a penalty it is stopping there, of course it is lessened by the 50mph curve, however, on weekdays they have 6 diagrams calling there northbound and 4 south, a quick glance at the timetable doesn't suggest too much in the way of lost time.

People are doing OK here so far. 4 seems to have got a few people out. Remember we are talking between Yarm Station and Northallerton East Jn Here. Low Gates is right but the other is a CCTV crossing controlled by Low Gates...

I won't post any names as I've had to look them up - but Quail shows three crossings (one MCB outside the box and two CCTV), all supervised by Low Gates?

I've only ever been aware of the MCB and the one CCTV furthest from the box, not sure about the centre CCTV but I would have to check that...
