Birmingham New Street; you can get to quite a few destinations depending on whether you want to take a roundabout route!

Infact, the first station out of New Street on each line, apart from Adderley Park can be reached by either the 'a' end or the 'b' end of the station.

Smethwick Rolfe Street - a: via Witton, b: normal route (direct via Soho)
Hamstead - a: via Witton, b: via Soho
Duddeston - a: normal route (direct via Proof House/Vauxhall), b: via Soho
Five Ways - a: via Camp Hill, b: normal route (direct)
Kings Norton - a: via Camp Hill, b: via University
Stechford - a: normal route (direct via Marston Green), b: via Soho

Manchester Piccadilly

On actual services...

Chester.

But it's possible to get to all of the WCML South destinations either way using the chat moss via Earlstown.

On actual services too you could have Stockport.

For 'a' are you using the Lifford Chord then? You would never get a passenger service doing that though.

Droitwich Spa - London (Any) (all involve 1 change)
North: via Chiltern Main Line
: via WCML (Birmingham New St)
South: via Cotswold Line
: via Cheltenham Spa

Where do peak HS1 services via Whitstable start/finish? If the answer is Margate or further, then at least one Thanet station would count.

On the Underground, Woodford has services in both directions to the core of the Central line.

Also as with the "Sutton" and "Fife Circle" answers above, there are plenty of loop options out there, especially in south London, such as Kingston, Sidcup and Crystal Palace.

The Southampton area has loop services to Romsey and Salisbury, and Fareham has (or at least had, I don't know if it still does) at least one service via Haslemere to London.

Cardiff Central: Both sides of the 6/7 island have services to Radyr, albeit it at vastly different frequencies (6tph vs 2tph).

Motherwell. Also Hamilton stations/Airbles if one boards a Motherwell train from platform 2 then heads for Glasgow via Bellshill, and vice versa at Uddingston/Bellshill.

Or via Harrogate.

This also means the same applies to York. Going out the northern end via Harrogate to Leeds or the southern end via Church Fenton.

Trains to Kings Cross usually depart westbound to cross the King Edward bridge but on occasions they depart in the opposite direction and cross the High Level bridge.

ok. Name mainline stations where one can leave both ends to get to to your destination station.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
.............it has to be from a mainline station to another mainline station; one journey and one train, not diversions.
Next please?
Clues are: Man Picc, Chester and Birmingham.
I don't know anymore....someone will correct me!

You can get to Ellesmere Port via Warrington or via Hooton. (I think Warrington is once daily)

Not anywhere. Only at stations between Inverkeithing and Edinburgh

So, all of them?

Leave Rosyth Northbound and you end up (eventually) in Edinburgh, leave southbound and you end up in Edinburgh.

Same goes for every station on the circle.
