• Transfer
• London Bridge
• Brighton

(of cause the transfer would be paid out of my own pocket)

And then return using the same card?

I haven't even had the two tickets I'm entitled to get for my season ticket in 2011 yet - so I hope that when I do these will be for 2011/2012!

Have you claimed them via the website?

I didn't receive mine and was told that I had to claim them via the website if the season was bought from a ticket office at the station. They are sent automatically if you bought your season ticket online.


Wait a few weeks (unless your ticket is about to expire!) then hopefully you will get 2012 tickets.


My book of 5 tickets also arrived today. Haven't used the 2 free ones with my season ticket yet. I see TL services are running through Central London next weekend so would be a good time (though there are engineering works south of Haywards Heath)

Well it is subject to the NRCoC, and it doesn't say you can't, so yes To confirm I asked FCC earlier on Twitter but it seems there's nobody there replying

Which fail to mention the rules on BoJ

Just noticed that there is nothing which states any time restrictions on them -on the front it says valid on all First Capital Connect Services (for the date you scratch out prior to travel).

So I take it that they are valid at Anytime?

Last year's free tickets that I got with my season ticket were only valid off-peak.

Yes they are valid Anytime and yes they are valid for Break of Journey. Firstly they are effectively an Anytime ticket and BoJ is always allowed on Anytime tickets and secondly, the NRCoC says that for BoJ to not be allowed this "the relevant Train Companies will make this clear in their notices and other publications."

Now what about upgrading to 1st Class. Would that be allowed and how would an excess be calculated?

I got my free tickets but need to start my journeys at Sevenoaks or a station between there and Bromley South to cross London to St Pancras. The FCC website shows this as a shared route with Southeastern but none of the journeys I've looked at so far are operated by FCC.

Assuming I cannot use the tickets on Southeastern do FCC actually operate regularly on this route now ?

IIRC the services you speak of switch between FCC and SER at Blackfriars, and have done so most weekdays since late March 2009. On weekends, they're usually diverted to Victoria and remain with SER throughout.

*The £7.30 is my return fare to/from the FCC network

I received two complimentary scratchcard tickets from FCC, as an annual Gold Card holder (even though my ticket was Ryde Esplanade - Ryde St. John's Road!). I emailed FCC to ask whether they could be used to cross London as part of a Palmers Green - Brighton journey on a weekend when the cross- London part of Thameslink is closed). I got the following reply:

Ref: 6082442/FCC

Dear Mr...

Thank you for your email of 11 July 2011 regarding using one of our complimentary tickets.

I can confirm that for your proposed journey from Palmers Green to Brighton, you can use your ticket on the Underground between London St Pancras and London Bridge during weekend engineering works.

So it seems that there is no need pay separately for the tube transfer. I still haven't done the journey to put it to the test though...

Sorry but I'm still a bit confused. Does this mean there are trains with First Capital Connect livery between Blackfriars and Sevenoaks which are actually Southeastern services ? If so are FCC tickets like the free ones valid on that stretch of the route ?

Surely the situation is the same as any other NR-only ticket being used on the Underground when there's line closures and arrangements have been made for the LU to carry NR passengers?

I have often use 'not undergound' tickets on the tube from St Pancras to London Bridge when the Thameslink blockade is on. FCC communications make it clear this is allowed.

The only trouble may arise when getting back from Orpington, as the train will be advertised as an SET service, albeit with FCC units.

The T&Cs on the back state "The ticket is valid for only one person and one return journey" so yes.

I can't see there being a problem - both FCC and SET advertise the service as joint all the way through, even though there is a change of driver (and company 'looking after' the service) at Blackfriars. For example, it's the only DOO service SET operate .

Out of interest, how will you manage this mileage on one ticket?

Also, do they get stamped/marked if inspected, ie can you use it for two round trips between your stated start point and destinations in a day?

Norwich to Ely (paid for), then Ely to Brighton (for free); so it's two tickets really.

You're only allowed one return journey so trying to use it again would be a bit naughty. I'd suspect that it'll get clipped someone along your route anyway.
