Hi
I applied for a CSA role with Virgin and have been invited to a recruitment day next wed in Crewe.
Just wondered if anyone had been to one before and knew what to expect? How long roughly does the day last as i need to book trains and i cant get through to any1 on the recruitment number.
Also is anyone currently working as a CSA for Virgin? If so what are your shifts usually like? this job is for 30 hrs a week.

Thanks any info would be very much appreciated!

Hi mate.

I have been invited to the same one. Currently work for Virgin during weekends as a casual. But unsure whether I am going to go to the event, but that's another story.

It really depends on how far you get as to how long it takes. There are two written tests at first which are about 20 minutes each. Then a group discussion then an interview.

People are knocked out as the process goes on... Can you not get an anytime ticket?

The tests are basic maths and then a comprehension type test. Easy enough. Any other questions let me know :)

Recruitment days usually start sometime between 09:30 and 10:00 and can last for up to four hours. Shifts are generally either one return trip (4 - 6 hours), or two return trips (7 - 13 hours) though there are a few odd diagrams here and there.

No problem. Only about two/three months. Been applying for ages and eventually got in, but like I said it's only casual so hoping to get a permanent job soon, but with the WCML franchise at the moment there isn't alot going about.

Love the job, meet so many friendly people, customers and the staff you work with. Some shifts are really long (13 hours) but they fly by. Just got to enjoy yourself or 'love every second' - :)

Any more questions just let me know.

Thanks for all your help.

When u do the 2 tests are u given the paper and a set time to work it out on ur own? Just a bit worried about the maths! I'm ok at maths just nit as good working out quickly in my head.

What sort of things do u do in the group activity?

Eastwood you sound like me. I thought I was terrible at Maths and then I got near 100% on an exam paper and top marks on another.

I think if Maths tripped you up before it is more a confidence thing and some practice will help you a lot there are a lot of tricks which can help ie working in your head especially working under pressure.

My question is are there any TOC jobs which don't require an assessment centre?

I was also wondering if you fail the concentration test twice whilst attempting to become a guard could you still become a driver as the same test is involved or is it two attempts for guard and two for driver? I did hear some applicants had more chances to become a conductor

Not sure about overnight cleaners, but everything else does. And you don't want to be an overnight cleaner.
