Went to Llandod today with SWMBO, alas by car today, visited the station as usual & found the new CIS screens on both platforms in use, a vast improvement to the old TV style display, which was pointed to the South on the side of the station, and became invisible after 1200. I was told the screens were erected last week.

On Platform 2, the sign on the door of the regional Network Rail office, still boasts.

Network Rail is unable to give any information on trains,:)

I also noted after three years the London Midland sign-age, as been removed, which informed pax they must have a valid ticket on boarding LM trains.

I wish they would put these screens at the Swanline stations so passengers can actually get information on the trains

Plan is to do all of ATW stations by 2015 - different pots of money are funding each area some local authority's have already chipped in and ATW are funding some themselves. Swanline is in what is known as "Convergance" area for EU funding - the highest amount-and an application has been put in to get EU funds to pay for stations in this area. Unfortunately this means jumping through a bureaucratic hoop to get approved and progress is slower.

The Cambrian stations in Powys are getting done ahead of those in Ceredgion and Gwynedd. Aberystwyth station refurb is also grinding its way through EU appraisal.

And what train info is worth giving out? Its 4 trains per day in each direction. If you miss one, you got a long wait! ;)

The information is large, clear & concise, easily readable as opposed to the old TV screen style with small print .

I now find more information is available, stations the train will stop at, although only four trains on Sunday,8 weekdays the info was readable even with the new platform two CIS screen facing the sun, & of course unaffected on the North side.

The old TV Style screen would have been unreadable yesterday facing the sun & the information was always too small a type for those visually impaired.

In effect Llandod as two excellent double sided screens, & its main income is tourism, if you take out its main employer Powys CC, Llandod being the County town of the largest (area) County in Wales.

But they're quite happy to run WAG expresses...

Because the WAG subsidies those services to the tune of several million £££. If that money wasn't there then they would cut both WAG expresses faster than you can say 'subsidy'.

This is one of the reasons I'm not convinced by the case for the WAG express. North Wales -> South Wales has good connections already, surely there are other rail projects in Wales that would benefit more from a couple of million per year than the benefit afforded by providing just two trains per day each way on an already well served route?

That's what I meant. The Assembly have their priorities wrong, but then we've always known the WAG express (now expresses!) are political and even there simply to carry Assembly Members in comfort.
