Not seen a thread specifically for gigs so thought I would start one as tonight I am off to see Within Temptation at the Academy in Birmingham.
Looking forward to it as not seen them live and they are by all accounts pretty damn splendid
You lucky fella! I'd love to be going to that, but I just can't afford to go to all the gigs I would like to, although I tend to avoid gigs at the Birmingham O2 at all costs anyway as it's an absolutely god awful venue in my opinion.
I much prefer the Wolverhampton Wulfrun and Civic Halls, where I saw Turisas last Friday: Good solid Viking metal!
I may have got a bit drunk during the proceedings, though it seems that I'm getting too old to do "mosh pits" these days.
While still in the subject area of female fronted symphonic-ish metal bands, I only recently realised that Lacuna Coil are travelling about the country on tour at the moment as well, and that I missed them in Birmingham a couple of days ago (Might have been Saturday, come to think of it).
I'm very surprised to see, and I know that my brother is too who
did go to see them in Newcastle last night; that they're playing much smaller venues than you would expect from an internationally renowned metal band.
My next gig will be Show of Hands (Superb folk/roots trio (if you remember to include Miranda!) from Devon) at the end of the month; I'm taking the missus, who has a love of Show of Hands equal to mine, out for dinner and a show, making a bit of an event of it.
And then, a week before Christmas, I'll be at Leatherats' annual Christmas party in Banbury, which is starting to become something of a tradition and resulted in a lot of chaotic fun last year!
