There is thread about this somewhere already on the forum. Can't remember where though.

I think it was deleted, when it became apparent that it was part of a "bet" to get a certain number of YouTube hits. I could be wrong though (?)

Oh, I didn't realise that

Well in that case I guess carry on then! Apologies.

As I say, I may be wrong, but the thread seemed to "dissapear" after someone commented on the person who started the thread (who registered, made one post, then didn't appear to contribute anything else) having bet someone on Twitter about how many views he could get.

Maybe it was just moved to another part of the Forums? Dunno.

Why did no-one bother to contact a member of the train staff? That being said, the other man did in fact allow the passenger to vacate his seat in time to disembark. Was that the member of the train staff at the area immediately to the rear of the argument?

It would appear to be the standard First waistcoat that some of the guards wear on TPE. But it seems to me that the reason that the guy let the trapped man out was because he was also alighting at Preston (judging from the fact he gets his rucksack and looks ready to leave the train).

aye, the original post disappeared soon after i pointed out that the guy that had posted it was a journo, and was also the guy that had shot the video, who'd clearly posted it and ran never to return.

How childish, on both parts. Adults eh?

However the sly smirks on both mens faces suggest to me all may not be above board. On a lighter note does anyone know where i can get the bald mans laptop case?? ;)

Id have climbed over the table, or climbed feet first, over the passengers lap who refused to move.

Argument over nothing. All the guy had to say is, 'are you getting off at Preston?' and it could all have been avoided.

Had some genuinely prevented me getting off a train and deliberately doing so in spite - a once in a million thing

At my seat - I'd have asked them once, twice, on the third time I'll have climbed over them. Believe me, you don't want my lanky frame climbing over you!

At the doors - After asking twice and not moving deliberately - I'd have pushed them and barged my way off and had a go.

Yes, I may sound like a nasty person but no matter if the next stop is 4 miles or 40 miles or even 150 miles, its the principle of the action.

And if the person took offence by my actions and wanted to come after me, good luck, I'm a quick runner

I really can't stand people who get up a full five minutes before the stop and end up clogging up the aisles and/or vestibules, and I expect other stewards and guards agree. The thirteen point five seconds they save by being at the front of the queue to get off the train will no doubt be taken back off them somewhere between the train and their destination, hopefully at a level crossing. This guy was sat immediately by the door, and still wanted to get up a full two minutes at least before the train stopped.

I've seen more than 5 mins before, I was by the MK3 door leaving Newport once (Had been sitting down so window leaning watching the HST leave is why I'm by the door) and by Ebbw Vale Junction, the vestibule filled up with me being cornered by the door and a lot of people waiting to get off...we had a good 10-11 miles to go yet to Cardiff!

So? Maybe he had another connection to make and had to be off the train asap thus wished to avoid any queues, or maybe he doesn't like crowds.

Heck, I'll get up a couple of minutes before the station if I have a connection to make just to make sure I make the connection.

Absolutely. A lot of people need to gather their bags, coats, umbrellas etc from overhead luggage racks. It's nice to be able to do that without worrying about rushing for the doors. Also, the "aisle" passengers dont always have the opportunity to get up and out of the way if other passengers have started to move around, hence the desire to get this sorted in good time.

It does seem very odd for an aisle seat to refuse to move for someone at a window seat. I've never known anything quite like it. Clearly they had an earlier disagreement, so it is very difficult to attribute 'blame', but whatever happened earlier, you can't refuse to let someone out of their seat. Madness.

I've known about 20 mins, it's not uncommon for people to get up in the Knottingley area on the 22:00 off King's Cross. In fact, I bet at least one person does this every trip (if it goes via the booked route).

I've also known someone ask if Lincoln was York before, although he didn't get up - that would have been quite amusing if he had. He hadn't looked at the timetable so had no idea of the diversion.

Train I used to get home from work two ladies never even bothered to sit down despite the train having plenty of table seats vacant. The journey was only 6-8 Min and one stop though.

I have also seen 15 minutes before...seen a few confused looks as passengers have stood up as we have slowed down (for what is a signal check) thinking we are approaching Stoke (5 mins after departing Stafford.....erm....I don't think so :P) and then we go sailing through Stone. The problem with that one as well is Stone and Stoke look very similar from a moving train (disregarding that Stoke is actually signed Stoke-on-Trent) and they sound similar too...especially with my Yorkshire accent!

This is assuming, of course, that the passenger known where the train is, whether it is running on time and where the train is currently from the vista through the windows.

An occasional traveller will want to be sorted out, all belongings gathered and organised, in good time for leaving the train.

Would it be preferred to wait until the train stopped, oo rush now, get stuff together, move otgher passengers, fight against the flow of boarding passengers, find the doors are already locked and the passenger be over carried?

I don't know if everyone followed suit, it wasn't a passenger, it was about 10 that came in one by one, so was full by Newport ADJ, some had a suitcase but some were milling around cramped against me by the door and others fiddling with their phone.

I opened the door for them at Cardiff, had no choice, there was no room to move out the way at Newport

It's also very amusing when the early standers go and wait by the door at the "wrong" side of the train.

clearly faked ( imo)

Back on topic, yes i agree too, having watched it a couple of times. the 'angry man' appears to be smirking/refraining from laughing and the paper guy does a bit too.

Plus they surely know its being filmed considering the guy asks for help from the person on the other side and not ever asking the closest person (an actor too no doubt), the cameraman...actually he hardly looks at the cameraman. No swearing suggests its planned for a public release, if that was real I'd imagine there would have been swearing and the TM coming in after and maybe more!

I tend not to bother getting a seat if I am making a one stop hop.

Naah. That could be any train out of Man Picc at peak time. A fair proportion of commuters really are like cattle. No, actually I apologise....

(....to farm animals who I just likened to those deadlegs) <D

When Manchester-London had the pick-up and set-down restrictions at Stockport, one day a London bound Pendolino pulled up at platform 2 at Stockport and a man got off looked a bit confused and then got back on. I think he thought the train had stopped at Stoke! (Which would have been announced as the first stop on the train and at Piccadilly.)
