My spelling is right lol

No it isn't, perhaps how you spell trainee to start with, I would assume if your spelling is as bad as here on your application you have zero hope of getting employed, especially if you think your spelling is right.

Oop's

Thank you for pointing that error out. I didnt bother checking the thread title. My spelling is normally very good . Guess I really need to slow down when I am typing and double check when I am posting on here.

I noticed the same error in another of your posts the other day, definitely slow down and reread what you've written. Perhaps the same with applications you make, or draft them and get someone to read your draft before you do the final copy.

Thanks for the tip.

I actually do double check when I am filling in application forms, I just dont double check when I am posting on forums such as this or my facebook page.

When you say turned down, do you mean you failed the assessment day or just haven't heard from them.

I passed the assessment but haven't heard about an interview, does this mean I cant apply for this new position?

correct, the website won't let you. The only way you can get round it is by clicking 'remove self from consideration' on your current application. Question is do you want to really do that?

How long ago was your assessment?

Most 1st group TOCs have a bit on the form asking about how you will get to work and if you will relocate. At least FCC and FTPX do so I guess it's universal. Apply and you will find out!

I'll give them a call on Monday and see what they say! I might just apply anyway.

I also have seen there are advertising, for drivers, I am currently on hold waiting for vacancies for drivers in Oxford. I believe that there is 3 intakes next year.

I have a mate at padd and think he said traction is turbos (165 or something?) top link sign HSTs for emergancys etc but this is not to be confused with the HS side.

Roads are padd to Oxford including the brach lines (henley etc) and I think they also sign hungerford or something.

Was a while go I spoke to him about this so may not have it 100% but it's like any London depot-more suburban than mainline.

This is all over the place. The lovely lady organising this herself seems to be told something different everyday. I've been on hold for about 3 months & have had to do the interview twice, yet a mate who applied after me got told he had a medical date almost a week ago...

What I know: They are apparently looking to train as many drivers as possible as quick as possible, but numbers aren't available.

There is a course signed off for February which is ? number of people for all 3 depots (OOC, RDG & OXF) on the Turbos only. They are also looking to start another one in June/July.

They have a shortage of drivers already, and have been asking for fully trained ones to start so they can get enough in time for the olympics (although it has been a very low uptake).

They have been interviewing approx 12 people a week since the start of October, and seem to be telling people they've passed in the order they took the interview.

So in other words, if you're applying for this, be prepared to wait a long time to hear anything...

This is also what I heard from the DM's mouth, he said they need between 10-12 for feb and another 8 for June.

They have been interviewing approx 12 people a week since the start of October, and seem to be telling people they've passed in the order they took the interview.

this makes sense, when I had my interview they said I was the first of 3 that day, and they were interviewing all week.

So in other words, if you're applying for this, be prepared to wait a long time to hear anything...

I have already had my medical last week and was told a feb start date. Just waiting for contract. To be fair everything so far has been smooth, had my interview, got a phone call a couple hours later with a conditional offer, received email with offer in writing, was told medicals had been booked for the following week, received confirmation email for my medical, gone for medical.

Obviously if you are starting from scratch and applying for this vacancy, you will wait a few months to be given assessment date, then another few months for interview, then medicals etc. that will take it up to around a June start. So my thinking is these new vacancies will be for the June/July start, and the guys that have had their medicals in the past couple weeks will be looking at Feb.

Hey,
What date did you have your interview? I think I was the same week as you, but still haven't heard anything. Others have heard that they have been put on hold and you have obviously been for a medical. I'm sure I am in the system somewhere. Maybe
I'll call them this week... Especially as they are advertising again!

Don't bother mate. The number on the website only links to the Central Resourcing Team, who know nothing. Got in touch with the lady herself who's organising it, she said there's still interviews going on (although I was told she'll ring me to today, but I'm still waiting...). It's a standard thing with railway recruitment. Just keep you guessing...

The June was has NOT been confirmed yet according to this lady. If you've been for an assessment/interview since it last appeared, you're being put through for the Feb one.

Guess I'm just getting impatient after waiting for almost a month!

yeah, i have been for my medical nearly 2 weeks ago, my status has just changed today on the first website to 'medical passed' so I'm guessing they have received it back and confirmed i have passed.

I had my interview on october the 20th, and they said medicals had all been pre booked, got a phone call from the lady herself and she gave me my medical appointment whilst offering me the job at the same time. This was about 2 hours after I had my interview.

If you have had your interview and not heard anything I would give them a ring and ask for the HR lady.

I was told in my interview they wanted about 8 for June, but like someone just said they weren't sure as of yet. I have also heard that the Feb course has been signed off and given the go ahead, but the June course hasn't. But it is over 6 months away.

Just got an automated email saying I hadn't passed the interview. I think everyone who was wanted got told a while back. Very poor but not surprising... :(

:( been there seen that email before. Don't worry, next thing is to send an email to HR asking for feedback, they will get in touch with the managers and you have a personal response from them with your feedback. Then you have a managers email address, which may come in useful in the future!

To be fair they will respond with feedback, that's what they did with me anyway, and it helped a lot on my second go

Don't give up. The opportunity will come again, I never thought it would, but it did and I went back better prepared.

I'm not disappointed because I failed, I'm disappointed with the time its taken for them to contact me. In the month its taken, I could of focused my attention on other First Group company's, but now I'm automatically locked out from applying for any of them for 6 months...

Thanks for that info though, good to know they follow up. Best of luck on the course. :)

Cheers mate. Given LOROL & Southern a go (although I'm due to start with them as a Platform Assistant in Dec - my backup job).

At least the hardest part is out the way & I'm not limited to a number of tries! :)
