£36.50 in tickets down the drain, but that's life.

I was due to go to Grimsby today.
King's Cross to Peterborough and then a 153 to Lincoln and then onto Grimsby.
My lovely Caribbean lady living thousands of miles away decided to give me a surprise, and she suddenly showed up at my door early yesterday evening.
Not only was there some intimate coupling still going on at the time my train was due to leave King's Cross (07:30), but there was no way I was going ahead with my journey in the circumstances.
Posting this at 17:42, almost an hour before my return journey from Grimsby was due to start.
I had Advance singles King's Cross to Lincoln and Lincoln to King's Cross plus a CDR Lincoln-Grimsby. I guess I could have got a refund on the CDR, but it's probably too late now.

Assuming no railcards, the refund would be £0.50 as a Lincoln - Grimsby Town CDR costs £10.50. My advice would be to get walk-up tickets on the day, to avoid losing £10 on admin fees for refunds.
