Not loco-hauled, but I hear (from my sister) that trains across the Øresund Bridge between Malmö and Copenhagen are fairly spectacular.

Watch out though, some of them are run by a certain Scottish company whose name begins with 'F'... ;)

They only have a minority stake in DSBFirst though.

Probably a bit far north but you could go see the IOREs/Dm3 (if there are any still running, IIRC there is a second batch of IOREs on order) on very heavy ore trains. Don't expect much daylight running at this time of year though.

From where?

If in Stockholm you can do Stockholm-Gävle, for the rail museum, loco hauled. Take the 07.26 out.

Thanks for the info.

I shall be in Stockholm over the weekend and was considering Stockholm to Malmo to Gotenborg to Stockholm - accepting that Malmo to Gotenborg will be an EMU

The alternative would be to look at something going north through Upsala.

I would definitely consider going north through Uppsala and Gävle. As I said, there is the rail museum at Gävle, which is very much worth a visit.

Not for much longer. First are hated by both the Danes and the Swedes, and there is a growing movement to kick them out.
