Chaps,

If I get a standard £68.80 return from Crewe to Ebbsfleet or a £76 to Maidstone East can I break my OUTWARD journey in London?

I am thinking of going Crewe to London and spending at least the day, or maybe an overnight stay in London, and then going onto Ebbsfleet or Maidstone East at a later stage, then coming back all in one go.

Is this allowed?

Thanks as always,

James

Sorry - just to clarify this will be Friday into Saturday or Saturday into Sunday.

Best,

James.

Apart from a greater choice of off peak trains from/to Crewe I'm not sure what difference that makes.

The rule on overnight break of journey changed with the latest revision to the NRCoC on 5th October and the standardisation to the end of the railway day to 0430.

I have written to relevant parties seeking further clarification on this matter as there are different interpretations currently regarding overnight break of journeys and am awaiting a response.

Prior to the revision, overnight break of journey is indeed permitted on the outward portion of Off-Peak Returns provided that the journey restarts before 1200 the following day and no further break of journey is permitted.

... which does make one wonder whether ATOC are that committed to those changes. Of course, the confusion can be useful for people like us.
