URGENT - If you have any spare Tesco Clubcard vouchers lying about, convert them to Redspottedhanky e-vouchers from December 1st!

http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/product.aspx?R=1916

Tesco Clubcard vouchers can currently be TREBLED into Redspottedhanky e-vouchers. From 01/12/11, they will only be DOUBLED.

  • £10 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers = £30 of Redspottedhanky e-vouchers (until 30/11/11)
  • £10 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers = £20 of Redspottedhanky e-vouchers (from 01/12/11)

It appears that almost everyone who has posted in this thread is happy with the new arrangement, so I suggest that any of these people who have a Tesco Clubcard account convert their vouchers next month. :)

UPDATE: Thanks to a very informative post, I am no longer livid. :D I still won't convert my vouchers to Redspottedhanky, but I'm no longer livid.

This is still very sad news as I and others will not be able to convert vouchers in future.

Why? What you have posted suggests it is merely going down to double, not being stopped?

And why livid? It was a good deal and probably unsustainable. Double is still a good deal is it not?

It is not a good deal when compared to other "rewards" - Restaurants are 4x, Goldsmiths are 4x, Ferries are 3x, Euro-tunnel is 3x, and in February Avios is 1000 points per £2.50 of vouchers, which also equates to around 3x.

I highly doubt it was unsustainable. Tesco specifically reduced the rate from 4x to 3x last year "to encourage other companies to join" (such as redspottedhanky) and all new companies have happily stayed at the 3x rate, which indicates that Tesco must fully subsidize (or almost fully subsidize) these "rewards."

Why are you livid? Less first class travel for you? Boo hoo; it's an offer not a right, get over yourself.

That was basically what I thought. From the sound of it I thought that they were cutting it all together!

ALR: You should be happy with having any amount extra. Having it doubled is fantastic. This topic makes you look very spoilt and, frankly, silly.

It isn;t that unusual for an offer to be watered down. The intention is usually to entice people into joining something or using something in preference to a competitor. After a while the benefits get reduced,

Spoilt? When I spend thousands of pounds a year at an organisation that makes billions? Really?

2x is not fantastic when similarly useful "rewards" are 3x or 4x. 3x was bad enough when most other "rewards" were 4x! By choosing Redspottedhanky from December, Clubcard holders are losing out compared to buying other "rewards," such as Avios. The economics no longer add up and it is unfortunate that Tesco - after much fanfare - are effectively "withdrawing" what was a decent offer for train tickets. :(

I have this gut suspicion that ATOS are trying to get as many customers as possible, in order for them to have as large a market share as possible. After they've got a decent customer base they will withdraw the Tesco Clubcard offer completely, as well as all of these other promotions they've been running as of late. They may even decide to introduce a booking fee!

As soon as my e-vouchers have run out (that's a long, long way off ;)) I will be boycotting Redspottedhanky!

That makes the triple.

I'm still struggling with this one though, please enlighten.

The e-vouchers are valid until 2020! I would have liked to stock up on e-vouchers for a bit longer!!

They could give you nothing. They could give you 1:1. In fact, they're giving you 1:2. Personally, I think that's pretty damn good. Then again, I accept whatever I'm given free as a treat, rather than a right.

I'm sure they'll miss you greatly.

OK, that was a bit misleading. ;) But anyone who converts their vouchers to Redspottedhanky from December really is stupid!

Why? For £10 of club card vouchers they are getting £20 worth on RSH!! That's a very good offer. Why can't you be pleased with that? Why are you demanding something, which was a present to you anyway?

Isn't that the whole idea of an offer? To entice people in and get them to stay?

Weren't Tesco on a drive to make their offers in store rather than as loyalty points (it would appear the Asda Price Guarantee was a success given reaction by their rivals)? Anyway, I suspect Tesco have reduced the offer.

I personally don't have a clubcard (the exchange rate is not favourable) so I don't care but it's a good thing you've posted ALR

Yes.

Groceries: £100 a week. £400 a month. £4800 a year.
Petrol: £40 a week. £160 a month. £1920 a year.
Tesco Direct: £2000 a year (that's how much I spent last month on ink cartridges - my first ever Tesco Direct purchase! :D)
TOTAL: £8720 a year

They could give you nothing. They could give you 1:1. In fact, they're giving you 1:2. Personally, I think that's pretty damn good. Then again, I accept whatever I'm given free as a treat, rather than a right.

Quite simply, if they did that, I wouldn't shop at Tesco. I would shop at Sainsbury's or Asda. Without Clubcard, Tesco has no significant advantage over its competitors. (For Sainsbury's it quality, for Asda it's price - if you believe the hype that is!)

Yes, well... I haven't seen much of that lately!

I'm not "demanding" anything, but as someone has likes train travel (obviously ;)) I am rather annoyed that I will have to return to spending my points on Restaurants and Avios (formerly know as Airmiles - the scheme is good for Eurostar) instead of spending them on UK train tickets. :(

I'll still be converting the vouchers at RSH as none of the other offers are of interest to me. Until the RSH deal I was merely spending the vouchers in Tesco.

You personally spend £8720 a year at Tesco? You buy £40 of petrol a week? Really? Can you even drive yet?

I am entitled to manage my families' finances, am I not? Of course I don't drive! (But I am chauffeured around a lot. ;))

I'd have to be a very greedy (or very rich) person to spend £100 a week on groceries!

Since I'm sure Tesco are deliberately making information hard to find do you know the exchange rate from points to pounds? Put another way how many points corresponds to £10

You should always go for the best deal at the time, which is why I shop around a lot!

Your parents let you manage their finances? Right....

I don't have a Tesco club card so I don't know, but either way £10 being upped to the value of £20 on RSH is a very good deal.

Do you not do any of the following?

  • Eat out in restaurants (e.g. Pizza Express)
  • Go to the cinema
  • Subscribe to a magazine
  • Go on holiday
  • Stay in 4-star hotels (e.g. Marriott)
  • Have a car (which needs breakdown cover - e.g. RAC - and an MOT)
  • Fly with British Airways
  • Travel on Eurostar

All of these are available with Tesco Clubcard at around 2.5x to 4x, which compare much favorably to the new redspottedhanky rate.

I'm not agreeing with you. I find it very hard to believe and quite risky from your parents point of view.

I haven't met you, and you haven't met me, so it is very difficult for you to make an accurate judgment on the level of "risk" that my parents are taking. It is minuscule.

I think it is quite obvious that allowing one's child (how old are you?) to manage their financial status is actually very risky. Why do you think that banks have accounts specifically for children? It's so that they have the least amount of risk and complication.

I manage my own finances, but would I take on responsibility for someone else's if I'm not a trained accountant or bookkeeper? Of course I wouldn't. Because it would be risky for me and even riskier for them.
