For those of you unfamiliar with this quaint Clackmananshire Town think of an urban sprawl crawling with rejects from The Jeremy Kyle Show -and thats on a good day :p

I was waiting to catch a Bus back to Falkirk (like Alloa only bigger) when I noticed a couple of toddlers heading towards a distant bin with rubbish to deposit.

Mother: "Where are you two going? come back."

One of the Toddlers " To put this rubbish in the bin"

Mother (at top of voice) "Theres a F***ing bin over here - come back you wee ****es"

I nearly keeled over - is this a representation of the mothers liberal attitude to the use of profanities or a sad reflection of the times we live in ?

I was in Alloa in summer. A bloke at the entrance to Asda was collecting for a charity of some sort. A passer-by told the gent asking for donations to f*ck off.

Believe it or not, I've never been unfortunate enough to have visited. I've seen it from the car/train, though. Not pleasant. Although, Easterhouse and Tollcross make Alloa look like Bath...

All too typical in the modern era :( Thankfully however, it is not so common away from the major centres of the UK, although this goes without saying.

I know of Alloa's reputation, so from a Bath perspective, this is almost insulting! Those two really must be dire places to live in...!

You could call them rough, I'd say deprived. Luckily both my parents' families saw the way the area was going and got out of there back in the 60s...ironically to Cumbernauld

Cumbernauld - have you ever had the misfortune to enter that 60's concrete monstrosity that purports to be a Bus Station. I wouldn't fancy being in there at Night Time - it makes Alloa look like Mayfair :p

At least they were putting the rubbish in the bin and not just throwing it on the floor !

Alloa is quite rough. Oddly enough, I understand it has improved since the railway re-opened and re-connected the town with civilisation.

Falkirk...

We used to get threatened with that at school.

"If you don't do well in your exams you'll end up in Falkirk. Just think how ashamed your parents will be."

And who can forget the Absolutely sketches of the 90s with Mr Dom & Mr George.

"Shut your face and get to Falkirk"

The word "Falkirk" is a great substitute for adults who are mindful of young minds present...

"Falkirk!"
"Oh, Falkirk"
"Falkirk off"
"Get to Falkirk"
"For the love of Falkirk"

Fairly usual behaviour round here (Doncaster), stand around MacDonalds for a few minutes and count the number of overweight parents screaming at their overweight kids using various choice swear words, I don't think it's going to get any better anytime soon :|

Popped into Flakirk town centre once after I went to see that Canal thing, reminded me of home. Haven't been in to Alloa, though parts of Glasgows' east end had me humming that Deliverance tune ...

It's a fairly general UK thing in urban centres big and small (and I don't think Irelands much behind).
Decades of crap education, telly induced dumbing down, promotion of money grubbing as be all and end all (as opposed to genuine entrepreneurilism and financially standing on one's own feet) has resulted in essentially the scum of Europe.
In these dis-united Kingdoms (and Principality!) stupidity, bad manners and a can't do/f**k you attitide is increasingly all that we have in common!:)

Round my way, teenage lads at the station will put their rubbish in the bin if they are on their own (with no other people around) but if they are with their mates they'll chuck it up the bank.

On a train...somewhere!
No offence to any Wakey residents but I was (un)fortunate enough to be stuck in the town for 3hrs between jobs. Having endured a pub close to Kirkgate whilst drinking only soft drinks I decided to move on as the locals looked twitchy, I felt physically unsafe walking through the underpass the the town centre which was chav after chav, pawnbroker after betting shop. Not impressed! Headed back to the station to pick up my ride home to find a bunch of young lads swearing at passengers on the platform and daring each other to jump onto the track. Thankfully I wasn't there long enough to see the end result...

Walking the dog (caliwag as it happens, so now you know) in Acomb, not the finest part of York...has it's problems but I feel safe in daylight: haha.
A family passed me (you don't 'walk' Caliwag...it's a sniffathon), the older brother (about 17) tossed his empty fizz bottle on the grass verge. Little brother (about 7) shouted ' hey don't throw it down there' which was greeted with 'f+++ off'...the parents completely ignored the altercation and wandered on...the bottle stayed on the grass.
If I had been in the local rugby team I'd have told the lad he'd dropped something, but as it was I suggest I might have been belted one by the mother!! So I picked up the dog poo, as you do!

I guess there's hope though, the young lad knew what was right!
