You will be traveling on a 221 voyager, so you won't get a cooked breakfast.

More likely a Bacon Roll or Egg Pannini thing.

Not traveled on them for a while. Our resident 1st Class Traveller All Line Rover should be able to tell you

Breakfast on Super Voyagers is very poor - it's tiny, and is microwaved, not cooked. I prefer to have a Light BITES sandwich. ;)

If I remember correctly, that train might be a Pendolino as there are one or two morning Pendolinos from Birmingham to Scotland. Someone such as AlterEgo may be able to confirm.

The 0720 is booked as a Pendolino, yes. It shouldn't change unless there is some severe disruption.

I got a Voyager from Rugby earlier. Despite it being a Pendo, there is no chef on board so you'll get the Voyager offering which should be either a mini Grill, salmon tart or porridge. Avoid the latter 2 at all costs, they're awful! If the host is up to the job, you should also get a croissant otherwise ask for one!

I cannot eat that salmon tart without throwing up. It really is disgusting! :|

The "mini breakfast" is OK, but you can get a better one from Asda Cafe for less than £2.99! Virgin really should re-introduced the miniature smoked salmon & scrambled eggs that used to be available on Super Voyagers to/from London.

Anyone know the odds of getting breakfast between EUS and MKC on a Birmingham terminator?

There is no chance.

It's a half hour trip and you won't be served. Onboard service between EUS and MKC is that customers will receive drinks only.

Completely nil, as food is only served after Milton Keynes (and vice versa).

This largely depends on the crew. I was on the 08:43 to Birmingham this week. The host came around asking where we were travelling to before taking breakfast orders. I received and had finished my Grill just as we were passing Bletchley (and could have finished it earlier as I was in coach G). A dishonest customer for MKC could well say they are going further in order to get a breakfast and make a swift exit at MKC!

The staff should know that food is not be served to customers travelling between Euston and Milton Keynes (this is made quite clear in their guidebook!). The vast majority of crews solve this problem by not serving food until after Milton Keynes (and vice versa), although I have on occasion experienced the type of crew you describe.

It's reasonable not to expect a breakfast, especially given the FOS is roughly half the price of the Manchester one when compared by distance or time (£24 for 30mins/50miles vs £199.50 for 120mins/200miles), but I am surprised that you don't even get a bacon sandwich, or even toast, or even a croissant.
Likewise on the return journey: at best a coffee, cake and glass of wine; at worst nothing, I assume.

True, I've always thought that too. Those Milton Keynes commuters must at least be deserving of something! ;)

But, no, no a bacon sandwich! Passengers travelling from Manchester on the 10:00, 10:20 and 10:40 trains only get served a bacon sandwich. Surely those Milton Keynes lot are less deserving - perhaps they should only get some ketchup? ;)

Have you ever got on a peak service at Milton Keynes? The 0652 to Euston, for example, has about 50-60 First Class passengers joining at MKC. It would be impossible to provide a service.

I'm fortunate enough to live in London and only have to travel to that lovely town a couple of times a week, so all my journeys are against the flow.

Ah. You don't by any chance catch the 0643 or 0743 off Euston? ;)

Usually the 0910 actually (or any xx10 - free WiFi in Coach D), but will be the 0743 one day next week hence my original question :)

Surely it wouldn't be that hard to provide them with some ketchup? Or a complimentary loppypop? ;)

So, I did the aforementioned journey this morning: coach K on the 0743 from Euston. The first class hostess made it very clear (in a polite way) that breakfast would only be served to customers travelling further than Milton Keynes. The scrambled egg/salmon orders were handed out by Harrow, sausage/bacon rolls a little later and the full breakfast somewhere around Hemel Hempstead. As mentioned, a dishonest customer could have easily gotten something substantial.

There was, however, croissants and toast for all passengers - this commenced being handed out around Leighton Buzzard - a pleasant surprise. In addition to juice and hot drinks, obviously.

You sat in Coach K? I don't know if that's brave or stupid... ;)

Good to see that you got a bit of food in at least.

K17 - my favourite seat :D
You do get a bit of chatter from the kitchen (which doesn't bother me as I'm nosy), and you tend to get a better deal with the complimentaries.

Yes, a free dinner - beef casserole.

Excellent pun, by the way. ;)
