4. Somewhere in Scotland - if rocks break the trip wire a special landslip semaphore signal is replaced to danger indicating to the driver to stop.
6. On the LUL NX Panel?

I presume that like most red lights, it would mean "Do not proceed". Would it turn White?

Right, here are the answers:

1. Yellow magnets are standard strength. Green magnets are extra strength for use in third rail electrified areas.

2. The flashing red light means the points are not correctly set for the train. When the points are set and the TPWS is suppressed, a flashing blue light is displayed.

3. B.

4. It's a lever post for one of the automatic stone signals in the Pass of Brander, on the Oban line.

5. These are Trackside Functional Modules (TFMs), part of a Solid State Interlocking (SSI) system. The one on the left is a Points Module and the one on the right is a Signal Module. The connection with mechanical signalling practice is that their label colours match the corresponding lever colours in a mechanical signal box (points levers are black; signal levers are red).

6. This is referred to as a 'miniature OCS (One Control Switch) panel'. A normal OCS panel has switches; this has push-buttons instead. This is the panel in Cathcart signal box - nothing to do with London Underground!

7. ERTMS.

8. There are three halogen lamps behind each lens (one each for red, yellow and green), positioned at right angles to each other. Light is directed from the lit lamp towards the outer lens via coloured dichroic filters/mirrors.

1) Yellow is the standard system while the green is the southern based, higher seated, AWS magnet
2) The foot crossing at the end of the platform is NOT clear

4) Avalanche trip wire which sets the semaphore signal to danger if the wire is broken? Somewhere like Avimore?
5) some sort of "block" control system
6) OCS panel? (but doesnt look right somehow!)
7) Must be ERTMS
8) LED projection?
