Network Rail messed up at Euston!

Yesterday (26th November) I was in London, arrived at London Euston for film the 5th Railtour of the day!! 34067 Tangmere was due to arrive on Platform 18, waited for the steam Locomotive to arrive, loads of people there all ready to film the Southern Locomotive into the Platform, an few minutes before it arrive they put an announcement out saying that Passengers waiting for the charter train are advised that its NOT Arriving onto Platform 18, you are advised to head back to the main concourse and check the departure boards.

So now wondering what Platform 34067 was due to arrive, everyone headed back to the main concourse, when i got there i check the arrival boards and had no Platform allocation, next second it got changed back to Platform 18!!

Started walking back towards Platform 18, an couple of people who were also waiting to film and take photos of 34067 saw us heading back and they said to us that it's not arriving on Platform 18, we told then it is becuase they put it back on 18, got to the top of the ramp at Euston and 34067 arrived!!!!!

There was an lot of unhappy people that were annoyed from what happened, i evenn spoke to a few on duty members of Virrgin Train Staff who were there to take photos and videos and they were happy as well and they were going to give Network Rail a good telling off

Me personally thinks that Network Rail did that on purpose and i felt disgusted by their actions, they messed an lot of people around and also personally thinks that it wasn''t fair on a lot of people!

Disgusted? Get a grip. Inconvenient maybe but it's hardly like NR beat you up and stole your lunch money.

Oh, and on purpose? Yeah, ok. Sounds like the signaller was umming and aahing about where to stick the train (operational railway remember) and the announcers were trying to keep up with the change. Bang, 18's OK actually, in it goes.

It's an operational railway, changes have to be made and unmade. There will be a genuine reason why!

Why the hell would NR do that deliberately? It makes no sense for anyone to think that they did.

Also, grow up. It was just a botched platform alteration; not like they'd terminated it at Watford or anything. You got to film the train, didn't you? All the mistake cost you is 50 yards' extra walking.

sounds a bit like AOC realised they may have been a cockup and wanted to keep empties running in and delay minutes to a minimum , instead of holding up at final approach and creating delays for normal runners. this things happen, as other posters have already said at least it got in to euston....

euston is a busy operational site, and it must be considered a privilige that kettles are allowed in there now.....

Question - did you pay extra to gain access to the platform to film & photograph this special - if you had - i can sympathise with ya woes.

if you didnt pay extra then hard cheese - the railways are not run to the convenience of gricers and the kodak brownie brigade.

why is it that those who do the filming of these specials think they are so special

i recall tornado in northampton earlier in the year and loads of kids and families were on the platforms going to see it. and yet again you filmers moaned about em. I didnt bother i heard it go past my house and thought - ohh there it is !! Tornado is nought special

to me the sounds of the punters enjoying a train in a platform or as it passes by enhances the filming experience.

just get over it - if you want preferential treatment im sure network rail station managers will look in to this - and if they had any sense would make anyone who is there purely to film a special choo choo pay at least 25 quid for the privilige !!

i expect a slagging and look await for it with a baited keyboard

Why do you think they did it on purpose?

To be honest, I never have time or care when people say things like this. Do you seriously think Network Rail wanted to just annoy people for the hell of it? I don't think so. Remember, Euston is a busy terminus. Platform alterations can happen at the drop of a second. Then the signalman decides actually it would be better to keep it as it was, so changes their mind back. It's happened to me before but I just get over it - nobody has died, it's not the end of the world.

And also on a side note, you should take extra care when spelling.
While I appreciate you might be dyslexic, hey... I can't play the guitar but I am determined to learn. Unable to spell does create a little dis-respect for you unfortunately.
If you use Internet Explorer, try Speckkie. If you use Chrome, it's already got a spell checker in-built.

As I have mentioned before, charter trains fit in where they can and have no contractural rights to paths, if the signallers decided to move it to another platform then tough titties, the kettle is not important in the grand scheme of it.

And im sure if he was confronted about it, he would probably do it again without a seconds thought...

If I had known you were there I probably would have done the same! But in all seriousness these trains have no priority at all from an operational point of view.

Annoying, yes. Out of order, not really.

If you want a good shot can hardly think of Euston platforms to be honest. There are many better places just north of the station!
