Do ticket barriers at St Pancras "eat" your ticket?

Next Saturday I am going from Leicester to Elstree and Borehamwood return via St Pancras and I am wondering if the ticket barriers "eat" my ticket up? If it does, I will be in a sticky situation...

Thanks.

Only if the final destination is London Terminals, and even then you can just go through the manual barrier.

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't think that it would, considering that it is a thoroughly valid route to make that journey with.

They usually only swallow tickets that terminate there (i.e. London Terminals) - as they should!

As ELS is a Thameslink station, the ticket would surely be to a named station, not London Terminals? Someone better qualified than me may be able to confirm that.

(P.S. Surely this should be in "Fares, Tickets, and Routings"?)

I think the OP meant he/she had a Leicester - Elstree & Borehamwood Route +London ticket. It will not be to London Terminals as Elstree is not a London Terminal. Leicester and Lincoln are the only two stations I'm aware of at the moment which gives everything back.

The barriers at St Pancras will retain your ticket if it is to London Terminals, not if it is for somewhere else.
