According to EMT the Meridian refurbishment finishes in December so I presume the ex Hull Trains units have been treated.

4-car 158s between Nottingham-Liverpool will become the norm whilst two will be 4-car from Norwich

EMT are also investing in solar powered help points and have done very well in the latest NPS

I think you've answered you're own question there. 2x153 or 1x156 for the most part I would think.

It's tended to be a 156+153 in one direction and a single 153 in the other.

2x153 single carriage units units and 1x156 two carriage unit?

What about school holidays when it gets busy?,

There was a time I went to Matlock on a 153 one carriage unit and it was packed, most people were standing up, The people I went out with blamed it all on me and it caused me to get lippy with them:(, Well I couldn't help it being 1x153 single carriage unit, maybe the Nottingham to Skegness have taken the extra carriages for the service, Should I have said to them "If you don't like the trains you get, go on a bus instead"

Really? There are three diagrams though aren't there? Last few times I've used the Matlock service it's either been a 158 or 2x153. I did have a single 153 back in June though and a 158+153 one Saturday night in September.

Today I saw 2 ex Northern Rail Class 156 units, I saw one parked at Derby Depot and parked at Nottingham Railway Station, They don't have a blind on the front where the train is going

The one at Nottingham may have been a NT Leeds service

I have once (2 years ago) seen one do a sheffield leeds after coming in from manchester. But i have only seen 150s and 158s go past sheffield to nottingham recently. Certainly didnt see one on the line today (home in chapeltown at moment and havent noticed anything other than 142/144/150/158 all day).

I can only speak for today though obviously they may have gone down in the past that post is not trying to tell you you are wrong :)

153s and 155s have also been known to do the full Nottingham - Leeds.

I've also seen a 142 and 144 perform the Sheffield - Leeds leg but obviously these get swapped at Sheffield.

Do you mean the ex-Northern units that have moved to EMT (as part of the 150 cascade)?

Correct - there is one pool of 156 diagrams - at least one diagram actually runs as 2x153.

Any patterns where these seem to be used is coincidental.

Yesterday I saw a Class 156, 158 and 153(But used as 2 units) running on the Matlock to Nottingham branch, But on the Nottingham to Derby services I went on a 153 (But used as 3 units) on the Nottingham bound and on the Derby bound was a 153 coupled on the end of the 158 2 car unit

The ex Northern 156 units will be on local services that were previously operated by 158s -which are now on Liverpool services.

I believe the 2x 153 diagram has been running for awhile. Presumably there are still insufficient numbers of 156s for this to be converted to 156 operation?

Its turned up at Lincoln a few times when I've been travelling.
