i dont know about anyone else...
but is anyone else concerned by the fact that 87028 has hardly ventrured outside of london this week apart from a run to northampton (i think)

the fact that 87022 and 87028 have been reported as going off lease later in september and 87028 not having been rededicated "Lord President" and the fact that 92028 has been realocated to the GBAC pool...

anyone got any ideas?

You wanna make up your mind which loco your on about, 87028 or 92028? I take it the latter is a typing error, as I can't see GBRf taking over 92s in the near future.

92028 at Wembley has been reinstated (?) to the GBRf GBAC pool. For the moment it remains on 'special tests' and allocated to WQ.

Well, good luck to them, that's all I can say, as they'll need it. There's an article in Today's Railways Sep issue, about the history etc. of the 92s. Certainly learnt a few things from reading it that I didn't know about the 92s before.

well... they are conducting driver training... but GBRf have done this before...
but according to ramblings on another forum... SNCF drivers refused to learn english and as such could not take the 92's beyond dolands moor.

its been suggested thet GBRf would tak eover the trains from there... however its not mentioned how far they would take the 92's... perhaps only as far as wembley where the train would be handed over to a class 66/7 (or hopefully 87) depending on its eventual destination.....

however it could simply be that GBRf are trainign ether SOME french SNCF drivers... or training up british drivers for SNCF or again training GBRf drivers on class 92's for use from dolands moor... or even from calais frethun...

Any gen (times etc) on this Northampton run?

022 worked 1S96 on Tues, as viewed here http://www.redcow.fotopic.net/p33426890.html
She worked to Warrington and is on thunderbird duties there

87022/028 are thunderbird locos-don't expect them to do much... This time last year 012/019 were doing even less.

if im correct it collected them after 66718 was taken off the train to be used on a intermodal...

if anyone ha any pics of 87028 on this movemnet id appreciate if you could direct me to them...

or indeed any shots of 87022 on 4L22 the other week that it hauled from northampton to ipswich

From what I understand, the 92s are caught up in some sorta long-running dispute between SNCF & EWS. Since they been running, it's been discovered the SNCF have been used by EWS more than their own one's, hence why the SNCF locos have been put into store for the moment, to let the EWS one's 'catch up' so to speak, but SNCF are not happy with their locos sitting around doing nothing. Also, there's hostilitie's arising between SNCF & EWS over the new freight subsidiaries beween them, EWS having Euro Cargo Rail, & SNCF with fretSNCF. Basically, SNCF are kicking off for EWS poaching on it's territory basically. Hench where the 92s come in, as they are owned by EWS & SNCF. It looks like there will be difficulty in maintaining co-operation of the Class 92 pool, especially if this rivalry hot up between the 2 companies. If SNCF decide to take their locos back so to speak, they could end up in Franch permanently, & be maintained over there, & EWS will jave have their locos over here to contend with. Maybe GBRf are looking at taking over the SNCF locos? If so, they'll need a heck of a lot of money, as they cost a fortune to run & maintain. Btw, in this article, it states the following - "Start up preparation of a 92 from stabling takes around 55 minutes - also due to the many systems that need to come online."

yeah i read the article...
very interesting...

however i belive that SNCF use EWS for their frieght from france to wherever they go to in the uk..

but with EWS/ECR setting up to operate freight from france and beyond direct in to UK without using SNCF services...

SNCF have been looking at using their own traction and trying to move its freight without using EWS

so they would require a UK based partner group to do the freight on this side in order to get around the problem of the SNCF drivers refusing to learn english which restricts them from operating their freight beyond dolands moor.

87022 worked 4L22 due to the failure of 66xxx on the northbound GBRf intermodal. As a result 66xxx on 4L22 was removed to work said northbound serrvice. 87022 drafted to work the southbound (now shed-less) 4L22 from Northampton.
A one-off, one of the local workings of the year (imo!)
