So, has anyone else found that the GBT link is not working ? Tried Google searches but no joy.

Has the publisher now decided to charge for it and so has removed it from general (free ) consumption ?

If that's the case, does anyone know where the GBT and/or SCAAT practice tools can be bought from ?

TIA

The first time I tried to download it in November it didn't download properly. May be an obvious question, but have you tried again? In fact, I don't think I managed to dl it on to the AppleMac but it went on to other laptop ok.

Well, it's not so much of a won't download problem as an it doesn't appear to be there problem :( The download link gives both a 404 error and "doesn't exist" message and the digital reality page again gives a 404 error and "permission forbidden" message

That's why I wondered if maybe the author had decided to start charging for the tool seeing as how popular it had become ? I just can't seem to find a download link anywhere for it, ( free or payable ) even on some of the more esoteric torrent sites. :-x

Any help would be gratefully received.

TIA

The link is in several threads on this forum - if you haven't already tried, search Group Bourdon from the facility on the top right of the screen. May help...?

I appreciate the help LCC106 but all of the links that relate to the digital reality site just return a site not found error. I've tried using four different browsers but the result is the same.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue with the d/l links ?

Just seems to me that it's disappeared, for what reason I don't know.

Thanks

Ah yes - it's unavailable. Could be that they are making upgrades or that, as you say, they are looking to charge for the software :(

Not as yet rjh but I'll let the sender and the rest of the forum know as soon as I do.

Once I receive it I'll check any copyrights on it etc. and if it's OK to do, I'll place it on my ftp server as a download for anybody else to use.

Cheers rjh. I'll give it 20 mins or so and check if it's appeared. Hotmail can be very slow at times so probably not worth checking just yet.

Thanks to all that tried to send me the file. I've now got it although I had to edit the registry to allow outlook to let me download the file :D

I'll have a go at that tomorrow and let you know how badly I failed :D

Once again, thanks to all that helped.

When I looked for it the other day it came up as open source freeware so hopefully no copyright issues. Happy practising!

Looking at the license statement at original install it looks like the author doesn't want this to be used as a commercial ( for profit ) tool in any way and that's about it.

He does say that a link can be provided from a personal website to the original download site on digital-reality but seeing as that appears to be non-functional now I don't know whether or not he would mind me providing a link personally.

I'll see if his email addy is still valid and ask if that is OK and report back asap

Here ya go lads, first ever attempt at the tool stats :-

Overall Statistics:
-------------------

Perception & Attention:

Targets Omitted ------------ 228
Marked Incorrect ----------- None

Speed:

Total Cells ---------------- 982
Mean Cell Time ------------- 0.391
Median Cell Time ----------- 0.330

Completed Rows ------------- 37
Mean Row Time -------------- 9.759
Median Row Time ------------ 9.720

Vigilance:

Row Fluctuation ------------ 5.38

Good, bad, indifferent ? :|

I think targets omitted of 228 looks pretty bad

Looking at those results, i'd say slow down a bit and try and get the targets omitted down.

The amusing thing about those stats is that when I looked at the individual page results, I'd missed FIFTEEN on one row QUITE A WAY TO GO THEN !

On a better note, over the five pages of the test, my error rate did drop. It couldn't really get worse after the first page where I'd missed nearly 70 cells

Anyway, practice makes perfect so I'm sure I will improve over time. If anyone wants the tool mailing to them, drop me a mail and I'll send it over as a zipped file (while I can get authorisation from the author to host it myself for downloading) therefore circumventing the attachment blocking that a lot of Mail programs have.

Ha ha! Well apart from the omitted it does look ok! That's the reason people should practise. Keep going, you WILL get better. Good luck!

*IDIOT ALERT - IDIOT ALERT*

Never assume you know how something works.......check the instructions first.

Guess which pillock was pressing the spacebar to mark the cells instead of the up cursor ?

God help us if I ever do make it through and start driving. :D
