--------Part-1------Journey to King's Cross---
I left home at 10:00 after posting Gen of Engineering Works Trains.
At West Brompton, I brought myself a Zone 1-2 £4.30 Travelcard, then I rushed down to the platform only to find out that a C-stock have been on the platform for 10 seconds! Then I waited 5mins for a D-stock for Victoria, I got off at Victoria and quickly rushed to the platforms to find out that my train has arrived, I then took the 1967TS to King's Cross St.Pancras
I quickly rushed to platform 1 to see 47832 stabled after bringing the Blue Pullman into KX from East Ham
---Part-2-----Journey to Peterborough--
My 11:10 Leeds Train was formed of 43117 "Bonnie Prince Charlie" and 43118 "Kingston Upon Hull". 43117 seemed to be behaving as you could hear the roar of the Valenta from Coach G! We left from platform 2 and went on Line A until Belle Isle to put on the Down Fast. We passed a 317 on the Up Fast at Finsbury Park and then a FCC livered 313 on the Up Slow. We then passed Bounds Green Depot where there was a 91 on the London end (not slab end!). In the Train i started writing out what I was planning to do at the Diesel Gala using the NVR Diesel Gala Timetable
---Part-3---Nene Valley Railway---
I brought my One day Rover (£13.00), and then I saw 56003 coming to the platform , then i saw Class 14 D5916 and D5920 swapping places at Peterborough NVR, then I took the train, at Orton Mere we passed 56057, and at Wansford we passed 27066, where i got off to see the Class 03 coming to my train, but it wasn't the class 03 that turned up, instead it was Class 14 D5923 that did, so the train left for Yarwell Junction where it reversed and came back to Wansford Station, I saw 31271 at Wansford and i took the 14s all the way to Orton Mere, there I saw 56057+27066 leave the station, and then I waited for the DMU to arrive where unexpectedly i saw James Welham,Craig,Jon B and Galvanise and they also flailed for the camera , so I boarded the DMU and took it to Peterborough NVR, then I took 56003 "THRASH MONSTER", You could even see exhaust coming into the first coach! :D, I got off at Orton Mere and i then got Class 40 D306 to Peterborough NVR, and then DMU to Orton Mere and back to Peterborough NVR for the claggiest pair ever :), Clas 31271+Class 40 D306, they clagged as they left Peterborough, and also the clag managed to reach the Second Coach! I left the Train at Orton Mere and I then saw 56003+27006 there, I waited 56057 for the journey back to Peterborough NVR, I left the station quickly to take photos of the Two 56s together and then finally a treat :) 56057 Clagging :) , and then I headed for Peterborough Station
---------Conclusion------------
This was the Best Trip of 2006, I loved every bit of it! :), I hope Mid Hants Railway does a Diesel Gala event next year! :)
Highlights-> Class 40/31 clagging
Photos-> On the foreign stock, my camera was doing heads out, even though me and Galvanise did see someone trying to fit their head into a small gap! :|

NVR diesel gala.

My father and I set off at 08:35 for Peterborough, driving up via Blackwall tunnel, M11, A14 and A1(M) to reach wansford at 10:55.

Having bought rover tickets, we crossed to platform 3 to catch the 11:05 to Yarwell Mill which would've been hauled by the Class 03, and then back with Class 40, D306 but it was not to be! After 3 attempts from the guard to get the train going, the 11:05 was cancelled, however there was no delay to the 11:25 to Peterborough which would be hauled by the 40. Departure was ontime, as soon as we crossed the first bridge over the River Nene, it was 40 hellfire!! Slowing for the second crossing of the river, the driver soon opened up again, only to quickly shut off for the 10mph limit through Ferry Meadows station, and level crossing.
At Orton mere, we crossed 56057 and the wagon lits junk, before departing for Peterborough, again at high speed! Bashers soon bellowed as we overtook a female jogger  At Peterborough NVR, I photted the 31 which was sat in the headshunt not doing much, the 117 DMU, and had a quick look inside railworld. Re-joining the train, I saw Huddersfield gravedigger! His son's name is Anthony, this is for future reference should they ever annoy you again
The 12:10 departure from Peterborough NVR to Wansford was in the hands of D306 and 27066, and although i was now in the last carriage, it was still loud! 56003 was crossed at Orton Mere, working the Danish rake. Arrival at Wansford again, it was time for lunch, the cafe had virtually run out of stuff by this time! (12:40)

Viewing the pair of teddy bears arrive on the 12:46 from Peterborough, I got on the 13:14, which was 27066 flying solo. Bailed at Ferry Meadows, to await 31271 to arrive, 15 minutes later, it arrived and almost missed the stop! This was the wagon lits rake, which smelt awful! There was an opening window where at least 5 people could hang out of! At Wansford, it was off the 31 hauled train and onto the double headed class 14 working. whilst i could hear the sounds of the 14 very well, there was no chance of doing any H-O :( Also the seats were very uncomfortable! Back in Peterborough, I joined the 117 DMU, for a ride on the RT on rails  Declassified FC on that was good! Coming back into Peterborough NVR, briefly met Julian G, who bailed at Orton Mere.
The 56 was very thrashy indeed, but again no chance of H-O due to the foreign stock :{ I found a way of doing H-O though, standing on the radiator in the disabled space (empty) gave me limited headroom, but i was able to flail a bit! Changed onto D306 again at wansford, this time on the Mark 1 rake :p Crossed the 14s at Orton mere, which literally stormed their way out! The 15:49 departure from Peterborough to wansford was the thrash of the day! So much clag erupted from D306, was nearly in my eyes at my vantage point in the first carriage! Engaged myself in another flailing contest, with almost 5 people in the 1st carriage waving their arms! The run between Ferry meadows and Wansford was the best bit of the best journey, with so many lineside photters and video veg! D306 and 31271 were detatched off the front of the train, and the red class 14 attatched. 31271 was coupled on at the rear of the train, and i rounded off the day with a ride through Wansford tunnel behind a 14, and a 31 :) The thrash from loud 31271 was incredible, echoing off the walls! Finally, took a look in the Second hand bookshop, Model railway, and TPO coach, before going back home, the way we came.

I used 15 lites of premium unleaded to do 150 miles
The A1 {not A1M} runs through some villages at 50mph and 60mph, enforced by speed cameras.

Yep, them, there is a speed camera on the M4 opposite Hammersmith & West London College near Baron's Court

Err....I think you will find the route clasification for the road at that point is A4. It only becomes the M4 at Chiswick

I might save up for a Holden Commodore or a Ford Falcon, then do some of my famous high speed runs 8-)

I too went to the Nene Valley on Sunday, Id never been there before.
I thought that some aspects of their operation were shall we say interesting.
For my route map I returned Peterborough - Cambridge- London Liverpool Street!

Did any guards query that? (It is, of course totally valid).

Sometimes they turn out to be enthusiasts and you can have a chat to them, other times they think we're bonkers for going such long ways round (one guy tried to put us off going from York to Sheffield via Wakefield Kirkgate & Huddersfield by claiming the Huddersfield to Sheffield trains were all cancelled - miserable sod!).

I can honestly say that the only time Ive ever had a guard query whether my ticket was valid was on Gatwick Express but i do have a quite scary picture taken during basic training, in my HM Forces Railcard!
